BRINKLEY / BINKLEY FAMILIES
My father gave me a book of family group sheets documenting our Brinkley ancestors. A family member gave it to him sometime ago and he can not remember who it was. I decided to enter this information into Family Tree Maker software to preserve it, and that is how I got started on genealogy. After entering all the family group sheets I started to try and confirm the information. I found that a lot of the Brinkleys that were noted on the family group sheets were really Binkleys. But the other information like dates, first names, and places of burial were correct. Here is my Brinkley line. (I think?!)
Friedrich Binckele b.11/4/1757 d. 5/5/1834 m. 11/21/1786 Elizabeth Dull (I can confirm names, dates, & parents)
Jeremiah Jacob Binkley b.1790 m. Martha Elizabeth Pryor 1793 (I can confirm names, dates, & parents)
John James Brinkley b.1815 m. 8/12/1835 Mary Polly Yoakley b.1816 (I can confirm name & dates but not parents)
William Jacob Brinkley b. 11/ /1845 m.1868 Emily Ann Brandon b.6/ /1855 (They are buried at Warners Chapel, Forsyth Co., NC. I can confirm names and parents but not dates.)
William James Brinkley b. 10/21/1869 d. 1/22/1935 m. 6/29/1893 Sarah Elizabeth Harper b.6/30/1876 d.5/29/1960 (I can confirm names, dates, and parents)
William James Brinkley is my great grandfather.
Note Friedrich Binckele had a brother Johann Peter Binckele who married Susanna Margaretha Dull, Elizabeth's sister. This Binkley line leads to Sarah Elizabeth Harper, my great grandmother.
The fact that William Jacob and Emily Ann are buried at Warner’s Chapel among Binkleys may suggest a link to the Binkleys. William James Brinkley’s eighth child, Josephine Brinkley, is buried at Warner’s Chapel also.
John James is the missing link and the person I am focused on. In the 1850 Forsyth County census it lists James Brinkley yet in the 1860 Forsyth County census it lists the same person with the same family members as James Binkley. Then in the 1870 Forsyth County census it lists him as James Brinkley again. I wish I could find proof of whom his parents were. One of the things I have tried is to trace the wives of the Brinkleys.
I think I know who Emily Ann Brandon's parents are. Does anyone know the parents of Mary Polly Yoakley or Martha Elizabeth Pryor?
