QUEEN FAMILY
I found a cousin, Fred Queen, on the Queen-L email list. He had been looking for anyone who knew Eugene Queen's (b.3/6/1885 NC, d.11/1/1906 MO) family. I just happened to have a letter from a Eugene Queen in DeSoto, MO dated 5/16/1904 to my great-great-grandmother Rebecca Lula Queen Holder. (this is a PDF file so use Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it) After talking with him we found Eugene's and Lula's parents in the 1850 census of Davie Co., NC where it listed William Queen's occupation as "shoe maker". Now, among the old documents that came from Lula's granddaughter, my grandmother, were several scraps from a shoemaker's ledger book (this is a PDF file so use Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it) showing accounts payable. This led us to believe that we had found the right Queens. It sure is nice to find a cousin especially when they have been trying to find you and you didn't know it.
