Who We Are...
We are two goofy, singer-songwriters from Boulder, Colorado who love laughing and singing with kids. We write original songs that reflect what kids and parents really think and what they really do. We take old classics and sing them with puppet friends and beautiful harmonies that make them our own. We never let being moms and having other jobs interfere with us acting like kids.
...and How We Met...
Once upon a time there were two pregnant moms and their kids at a playground. As moms will wont to do, they started talking with one another. Eventually Cari got around to asking, "What are you having for dinner?" Mary Sue happened to have had an incredibly great morning and had actually had tossed something into a crockpot before walking to the park. Cari was awestruck and the rest is history.
...and How We Started Singing Together...
Once upon a time there were two good friends. Cari had written and played a lot of music when she was younger, and was recording a CD of her original music. One day she asked Mary Sue, "Would you like to sing some children's songs with me at the George Reynolds Library?" Mary Sue was awestruck and honored. The rest is history.
Mary Sue...
Growing up, Mary Sue provided the entertainment on family road trips by making up silly songs to "boooring" sites along the way. She still writes silly songs (and some not so silly) to share at concerts. For many years, Mary Sue led music at camps and church events. She plays the guitar, mountain dulcimer, ukelele and frog. She likes wearing funky hats (just wait until you see some at a concert!), and collecting small instruments (like the frog that you'll also see at a concert!)
Cari...
Cari has been playing guitar and writing music since she was a teenager. Her first CD of original folk music, "Returning" (1999), celebrates her returning to music after taking time for raising children. "Lucky" (2002) is collaboration with Ray Smith. She sings on Ray's CD, "Dance On a Wire" (2001), and in 2005 Cari and Ray celebrated the release of "Twisted Trees". In 1999, 2002 and 2008 The New Songwriters Competition at the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival (Lyons, Colorado) awarded Cari a top ten finalist position from a field 689 singer/songwriters from around the world. Colorado Telluride Bluegrass Troubadour Festival chose Cari as a finalist in 2004 and in 2007 awarded her an honorable mention for "Tis of Thee," featured on her second solo CD, "Window", which debuted in August 2008.
