CK NOTE: The 21 items listed below were notated from a Lebanon, Pa. German Language Newspaper; Der Libononer Morganstern, compiled & translated to English by Christine E. Weaver of the Lebanon County Historical Society. Although they are not obituaries, I decided to include them as they give an insight to life in this area in the early 1800s.

Der Libononer Morganstern of: 13 Mar. 1811.... FIRE: Last Friday night there was a fire in the barn of Mr. John Weidman,of Union Forge, in Bethel Twp., this county. Before help could be brought to the animals in the stables, they were consumed by flames. In this horrible occasion there were burned, 4 horses, 9 milk cows and a sheep, besides a large amount of hay, etc. The loss to Mr. Weidman is set at $2000.

The Reading Adler newspaper of: 20 October 1811....(published in Reading, Pa.).... MURDER - Last Friday, a certain Peter Weber was brought to the prison of this place, (Reading), who stabbed, with a knife. a certain Joseph Lorenz, of Greenwich Twp.
The Reading Adler newspaper of: 20 October 1811....(published in Reading, Pa.).... Also was a woman brought to the same prison. She was accused of murdering her illegitimately born child. Both will probably have their trials in the November Criminal Court.

We can only inform the reader that the President and Manager of the canal has accepted Loammi Baldwin, Esq., of Boston, as their Engineer, and that the President has written to a man in this town to learn of the scarcity of water at the present time.

TRIP TO GERMANY - THe undesigned notifies his countrymen that he is planning to make a business trip to Germany at the end of September, and will return next spring. He solicits your Trust and Faith that he will take along letters and powers of attorney of all kinds to Germany, Alsace and Switzerland, for 50 cents a piece, and will bring back reliable answers. NOTICE - Emanuel Meily, Jr., Carpet and Coverlet Weaver in the town of Lebanon, respectfully informs his friends and the general public, that he has set up a weaving shop in his fathers house, on Market Street in the town of Lebanon. To weave, on the shortest notice, the best and prettiest sort of tablecloths, carpets, wool, linen and tow coverlets for the smallest price. That he has thoroughly learned the art of weaving, and can promise to deliver good and beautiful work to his customers.

NOTICE - Dr. Jacob Hittel has moved from Jonestown to Millerstown, Lebanon County, directly opposite the new church, where he is ready to practice as a Doctor of Medicine, Surgery, and Midwifery. In this different location he requests, therefor, the consideration of those persons in need of help in these situations.

Der Libononer Morganstern obits of: 27 Mar. 1811.... Died, yesterday morning, a little before 3 oclock, of the so-called stomach fever, Mr. Jacob Schott, aged 38 years, of Lebanon Township. His painful and pitiful illness lasted nine days. His grief stricken wife and children were left to lament the loss of a good provider. This morning, his remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran Churchyard, with friends and neighbors attending.
Der Libononer Morganstern obits of: 3 Apr. 1811.... Died, on the 21st. of last February; Mr. Edmund Edmonds, in the 91st. year of his age, in Gnadenhutten, Northampton County. He was born in 1720 in Connecticut, and lived in marriage 71 years and 7 months, with his surviving widow.

She was the consort of Mr, Conrad Fasnacht, of this town. She leaves behind, a grieving widower and five small children, of which the youngest is only 4 months. Yesterday morning, her earthly remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran Churchyard, with the Rev. Mr. Lochman preaching the sermon.

On the following Sunday his earthly remains were laid to rest on his family burial place, on which occasion a proper funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Landis.
