Lebanon Daily News obits of: 13 Jan 1992. Marvin R. Dissinger, 6.8, of 3093 W. Oak St., Lebanon, died Friday, January 10, 1992, in the Good Samaritan Hospital's Hyman S. Caplan Pavilion, Lebanon, after a long illness. He was the husband of Doris M. Faranow Dissinger. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Charles and Sarah Wolfe Dissinger. He was retired from Olmstead Air Force Base where he worked for 30 years in the safety department. He also served for 10 years as inspector of weights and measures for Lebanon County. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War 2, having served in Italv and attended First Baptist Church. He was a 1941 graduate of Lebanon High School and a member of NARFE, Lebanon County Retired Employees, Lebanon VFW post, Lebanon American Legion and Richland American Legion. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Daniel D. Dissinger, Florence, Mass.; daughters, Doris M., wife of Stanley Morken, Moorestown, N.J.; and Elizabeth A., wife of John Fasnacht, Campbelitown; seven grandchildren; brothers, Paul Dissinger, Highspire; Harold Dissinger, Heath, Ohio; Raymond Dissinger, Lebanon; William Dissinger Fla,; and a sister, Christine Horn, Lebanon. He was preceded in death by a grandson Chad Fasnacht. Dissinger In Lebanon on Jan. 10, 1992, Marvin R. Dissinger, husband of Doris M. nee Faranow Dissinger, of 3093 W. Oak St.. Lebanon. Funeral services will be hold Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. from the Rohland Funeral Home, 5th and-Cumberland Sts., Lebanon. Interment at National Cemetery. IGMR. Friends may call Monday 7:00 to 9:00 P,M. at thefuneral home.

Faranow of West Covina, Calif., and formerly of Lebanon, who died Friday Oct. 19, 1984, in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Long Beach, Calif. Born in Lebanon, he was a son of Miriam B. Faranow, Lebanon, and the late Bris Faranow. He was a graduate of Milton Hershey School and was employed by the city of West Covina. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific theater. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife., Ann Rosales Faranow; children: Richard Faranow, Ronald Faranow, Linda Boyd, Shirley Gonzales and Marie Delgadello, six grandchildren & a great-grandchild, all of California; brother, James Faranow, Reading; & sister, Doris Dissinger, Lebanon. Burial in an un-named cemetery in Los Angeles, Ca.

She was the wife of the late Arthur Johnson. Born in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Walter G. and Elsie May Gettle Bleistine. After buying the former Moyer Restaurant, she and her late husband owned and operated Kit and Art Johnson's Restaurant at Eighth and Willow Streets in Lebanon. She worshiped in the United Methodist Faith. Surviving are a brother, Walter G. Bleistine, Lebanon; a neice Doris Faranow, wife of Marvin Dissinger, Lebanon; several grandnieces, nephews and their families. Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1991, for Kathryn B. Johnson, widow of the late Arthur F. Johnson, in Rohland's Funeral Home, with William Coleman, director of the Lebanon Rescue Mission, officiating. Interment was in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, with friends and relatives as pallbearers.

He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. and attended First Baptist Church. Surviving is a niece, Doris Faranow Dissinger of Lebanon. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rohland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Lebanon Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, with friends and relatives as pallbearers.

Mrs. Emma Mattes (nee Gettle), wife of George Mattes, propietor of Mattes Ice Cream Est., on the Colebrook Road, south of the city, and former cigar manufacturer, on N. Eighth Street, this city, died early Monday morning at the family home in N. Cornwall Twp. She was ailing from complications of her illness for the past six months and succumbed early yesterday. She was 49 years of age, and well known by friends of the family, as well as patrons of the ice cream establishment. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Nancy, at home; and three sons, George Jr., and Roy, at home; and Howard, of Lebanon. Two sisters, Mrs. Annie Donley, and Lottie Gettle of Lebanon; and two brothers, John and Pierce Gettle, this city, also survive. Interment will be in the Schaefferstown Cemetery.

Surviving are her children; Vivyan, wife of Herman Pressel, Rehoboth Beach Del.; Dolores, wife of Robert White, and Annetta, wife of Harry Carpenter. both of Lebanon; nine grandchildren; nine step grandchildren, and the following sisters and brothers; Edwin, Myerstown; Dorothy, wife of Bruce Spancake; Marguerite, wife of Albert Weise; Alice, wife of George Gingrich; Alvena, wife of John Kovach; Elsie Miller, Esther Kindt, George Gettle, and William Gettle, all of Lebanon. A brother Leroy is deceased. Services were held this afternoon from the Rohland's Parlors for Annetta C. Wenrich, wife of Warren Wenrich of 510 S.5th.St. The Rev. Kent Naylor, pastor of Lebanon Church of the Brethren, officiated. Interment was in Grand View Memorial Park. Pallbearers: Robert White, Robert White, Jr., Harry Carpenter, James Light, Sterling Shiner, Jr. and Randall White.

Born in Lebanon, Gettle was the son of the late Edwin and Margarete McMichael Gettle. He served in the US Army in World War 1. Surviving are seven children; Betty, wife of Joseph Anthony, Ephrata; Calvin Gettle of Harrisburg, Warren of Lebanon; Richard of Newmanstown; Ronald of North Carolina; Faye, wife of Edward Wells of Long Beach, Calif.; and Margie, wife of Gaylord Farnum of Saginaw, Mich.. Twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive, as well as three brothers, Edwin and George, both of Myerstown, and William of Lebanon; seven sisters, Alice, wife of George Gingrich, Fredericksburg; Alvena, wife of John Kovach; Marguerite, wife of Albert Weise; Mrs. Esther Kindt; Annetta, wife of Warren Wenrich; Mrs. Elsie Miller; and Dorothy, wife of Bruce Spancake, all of Lebanon. His wife was the late Bertha Blantz Gettle. Interment was made in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, with friends and relatives as pallbearers.

Mrs. Bertha Gettle, 30, wife of Leroy Gettle, of 520 Broad Street, died last night at the Good Samaritan Hospital of pneumonia following a three weeks illness. She was a member of 7th. St. Lutheran Church. She leaves to survive besides her husband, the following children; Betty, Calvin, Marian, Warren, Richard, Marjorie, Ronald and Faye. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blantz of Annville also survive. The deceased is also survived by the following brothers and sisters; Sarah and Paul, at home; Gertrude of Lebanon, and Leroy, Howard and Norman of Annville.

Lebanon Lodge 226 F & AM, the Harrisburg Consistory, and had played football for Battery H. He is survived by his wife, Alice E. Gettle Gingrich. Also surviving are a daughter, Lorraine R., wife of Neil Gingrich of Centre Hall; sons George M.,Jr. Bethlehem, Dr. Kerry H. Gingrich, Lebanon; G. Jay Gingrich of Schaefferstown Neil A. Gingrich of Lebanon; Thomas C. Gingrich, Lebanon; John R. Gingrich, Quakertown; and Larry A. Gingrich of Valley View. A daughter, Lucille Virginia, preceded him in death. A sister, Ruth M. Gingrich and Larry Gingrich serving as pallbearers. Masonic services were conducted Sunday by Mt. Lebanon Lodge F and AM, with David E. Reppert, acting worshipful master, in charge.

He was the retired owner of Gettle's Texaco on S. Lincoln Avenue, Lebanon. Prior to that, he was the manager of Krim Beverage Co. of Lebanon. He was a navy veteran of WW 2 and was a member of the Lebanon VFW and the Friendship Fire Co. Surviving are a son, William M. Gettle, Jr., Lebanon; a daughter, Eleanor G. Hartzell,Lebanon; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; & sisters, Alvena Kovach & Marguerite Weise, both of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by a son, Lowell T. Gettle. Interment was in Mt. Mr. Miller was pastor of the Full Gospel Mission on Quentin Road, and was engaged in evangelistic work for a number of years. For five years, he was bishop of the Holy Trinity Evangelistic Association, Reading, and supervised it's Old Folks Home. He was the son of the late Samuel and Virgie Eisenhauer Miller. Funeral services for the Rev. Theodore P. Miller, husband of Mrs. Elsie Gettle Miller, 322 S. 9th. St, are being held this afternoon from the Rohland Parlors. The Rev. John Landis, pastor of the Manada Gap Full Gospel Missiion, is officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Harold E. Basehore. Interment was at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, with relatives and friends of the family serving as pallbearers.

Relatives and friends served as pallbearers. Interment was in Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
Lebanon Daily News - Tuesday, Mar 9, 1999. Alvena M. Kovach, 79, of Lebanon, died of natural causes on Monday, March 8, 1999. She was the wife of the late John S. Kovach. Born April 13, 1919, in Lebanon, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Margaret Gettle. She was a retired garment worker, having worked for the Bannon Mills and Milsan Mills. She was an avid gardener and animal and bird lover. Surviving are sons George, husband of Jean Kovach, Parkesburg; John husband of Dottie Kovach, Columbus, Ohio; & Robert, husband of Linda Kovach, Lebanon; a sister, Marguerite Weise, Lebanon; grandsons David, George, Rodney, Ryan, John and Stephen Kovach; a great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
Lebanon Daily News - Saturday, July 31, I982. John S. Kovach, husband of Alvena Gettle Kovach, 801 S. Sixth St., Lebanon, died Friday morning in the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 65. Bom in Lebanon, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Gornboz Kovach. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel and also worked at the Budd Trailer Co. He was a past president of the local AFL-CIO union and the Friendship Fire Co.He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons; George L. Kovach, Porkslough, Pa.; John L. Kovach, Columbus, Ohio; and Robert J. Kovach, Lebanon; three sisters, Anna Phillipy, Lebanon; Mary Arnold, Lebanon; and Sister Dolrita Bouganville; four brothers, Joseph Kovach, Lebanon; George Kovach, Wernersville; Charles Kovach, Lebanon; and Frank Kovach, Washington State; six grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a retired machine operator from the former Lebanon Paper Box. Surviving are a son, Dwight A., husband of Karen Weise of Lebanon; three andchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and nieces ,and nephews. She was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters. Her funeral will be held at 10 a m. Monday at the Rohland Funeral Home, Fifth and Cumberland streets, Lebanon, preceded by a viewing beginning at 9. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

While seated in a rocking chair awaiting the opening of a prayer meeting, Mrs. Sarah Hissner, of Pleasant Hill, died died suddenly on Monday evening at the home of William Schultz, on north 10th. St. near the Cornwall & Lebanon Railroad. Dr. W. H. Halsberg, who was summoned, said death was caused by apoplexy. Mrs. Hissner was the widow of the late Michael Hissner, and Tobias Mease and was about 70 years old. She was a member of the Church of God. She is survived by these children; Mrs. Albert Hartman, Reading; John Mease, Berwick; Amos Mease, William Mease, Levi Mease, Mrs. James McKinney, Mrs. Jacob Keller, Mrs. David McKinney, and Mrs. Jacob Heverling, all of Lebanon. Funeral services were held today for Mrs. Sarah Hissner from her home in Pleasant Hill. P. H. Thompson, funeral director was in charge. Services were also held in the Church of God, near Centre Street. Family members served as pallbearers and interment was in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.

A resident of the home since April, 1955, she was the widow of Albert S. Hartman. She was a member of the Memorial Evangelical United Brethren Church. Surviving are five children; Mrs. Margaretta Rickenback & Lloyd Hartman, both of Reading; Harry A. Hartman, Trenton, NJ; Mrs. Martha Witmeyer, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Ida S., wife of David Beachler, Lebanon. Twenty-nine grandchildren, and 66 great-grandchildren, and thirty-two great-great-grandchildren also survive. Nine children preceded Mrs. Hartman in death. Services were held today for Mrs. Kathrine Mease Hartman, of the Lebanon County Home and formerly of South Lebanon. She was the widow of Albert S. Hartman. The Rev. Chester Hartman, of Palmyra 2nd. EUB, was in charge of the service. Friends and relatives served as pallbearers, with burial in the Mount Lebanon Cemetery.

Lodge No. 62, Reading; Knights Templar, Reading; the Zembo Shrine Harrisburg, and the Consistory. He was also a member of the Eagles, and the P. O. S. of A., both of Reading. James Edward McKinney, of 1620 Center Street, Pleasant Hill, passed away suddenly this morning while seated In the William Marquart barber shop at 31 South Ninth Street. Mr. McKinney who would have attained the 73rd. year of his age, had he lived to June 2nd. , entered the place to be shaved, about 10:15 o'clock. He was seated but a few minutes awaiting his turn, when he was seized with a heart attack. He was breathing laboriously and seemed about to collapse, when Orlando Foster, of 29 NorthThird Street, stepped out of a chair and assisted him in sitting upright and in making him comfortable. The aged man breathed his last in the arms of Foster. Dr. John J. Light was summoned & pronounced the man dead. The coroner was called and members of the family who appeared quickly on the scene, directed the Rohland Funeral Home to remove the body. Mr.McKinney was born and raised In the county and spent his entire life here. He was employed as a boy by the late Samuel Bell, bricklaying contractor, and by Samuel Bell's Sons, and by Raymond, a son of the late Charles Bell, who was one of the Samuel's Sons, thus making 3 direct generations of the samefamily by whom he was employed. Aside from his wife, he leaves five children; James E.; Harry A.; Ethel, wife of Andrew Snell, all of Lebanon; and Laura and John, at home. Mrs. Charles Boltz of this city, is a sister. The deceased was a member o f Grace Evangelical Church. on Washlngton street, and of the local castle of the Knights of Golden Eagle. Funeral services were held today in Grace Evangelical Church, for James E. McKinney, of 1620 Center Street. Rev. Wasser of Manheim, officiated, and the services were attended by a large number of friends and relatives of the deceased. There were also several beautiful floral tributes in evidence. Members of Grace Evangelical Church acted as bearers. Burial was in Ebenezer Greenwood Cemetery. Rohland's was in charge of arrangements.

She was 38 years of age and was ill for more than a week. Her husband survives her, but at the present he is confined to the state hospital at Hamburg, where he is recovering from a prolonged illness. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. David McKinney, and sisters, Mrs. Edwin Gettle, Mrs. Walter Dietzler, Mrs. George Irwin, and Mrs. Charles Boltz; brothers John & George McKinney; and also a sister Mrs. Charles (Cathrine McKinney) Speicher. Interment of the remains of the late Alice McKinney Albright, wife of Harvey Albright, was made Monday afternoon at 2:30 at Ebenezer Cemetery. Services were conducted prior to this at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Speicher, 424 New Street with the Rev. Harry E. Miller of Salem U. B. Church in charge. The bearers were; John H. Boyer, William Basselgia, David S. Wheeler, Adam Hartman, Ralph Gossert, and David Beuchler. Floral tributes from friends and relatives were in abundance. Mr. Albright, whose illness had confined him for some time to the Hamburg Hospital, was at the services but found himself unable to accompany the funeral cortege. Undertaker H. C. Rohland was in charge.

Boltz, Sr., of 624 Hill St., died at the Good Samaritan Hospital at 2:30 o¹clock this morning after having been a patient there for less than a week. Mr. Boltz, however, had been in ill health for some time. Death was attributed to a heart condition. He was 78 years of age and was a native of this city. Mr. Boltz was a cigar maker by trade, and had also been employed as a watchman at the People¹s National Bank, this city. For fifteen years, he and his wife resided in Philadelphia. One year ago they arrived here and have been residing with their son, Charles E. Boltz, Jr., of 624 Hill St. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. Surviving besides his wife Sally (McKinney) Boltz; are his son Charles E. Boltz, Jr.; two grandsons, one overseas; and one great-grandson. The funeral was held at Frederick S. Frantz Funeral Home, with the Rev. H. E. Miller of Salem United Brethren, of Lebanon, in charge of services. Interment was made at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.

Funeral services and a military burial were held at 3 o'clock this afternoon for the late George T. McKinney, of Pleasant hill, from the Rohland Parlors, Fifth and Cumberland Sts. Rev. H. E. Miller, pastor of Salem U. B. Church, officiated at the last rites. The military burial at Ebenezer Cemetery, was in charge of the American Legion. The firing squad consisted of Sgt. Frank Leffler, William Leffler, Albert Millacci, and Roy Shearer. The bugler was Paul Shay. Rohland's was in charge of the arrangements.

Born June 13, 1911, in Richland, he was a son of the late Rev. John G. and Alverta Spangler Levengood. He retired after 33 years as postmaster of the Kleinfeltersville Post Office and was also the General Store owner in Kleinfeltersville for 35 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Kleinfeltersville, where he served on the pastor-parish relation committee, was past trustee and past treasurer of the church and Sunday school, and lay delegate to annual conference of United Methodist Church at Albright College for 23 years. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Lodge No. 704 F&AM in Lebanon for more than 50 years, National Postmaster Association, Lebanon County Postmaster Association, Heidelberg Township Crime Watch, and Archives and History of United Methodist Church at Drew University, N.J. He was curator of Old Albright Chapel in Kleinfeltersville since 1970, and head of the church board of the chapel. He was the manager of the Kleinfeltersville Cemetery for many years, was a member and the announcer at the pavilion of Historic Schaefferstown for 23 years, a charter member of the Heidelberg Township Lions Club and a committee person in Heidelberg Township for the Democratic Party. He attended Schaefferstown High School and Elizabethtown College. In addition to his years in coaching, he served as a PIAA basketball, football and baseball official and attended numerous sports clIinics which afforded many young people under his tutelage the opportunity of up-to-date concepts in sports. Sweigert Kreiser, to whom he was married 35 years. Born March 24, 1944, in South Lebanon Township, he was the son of the late Richard L. Sr. and Elmira Robinson Kreiser. He was a dock supervisor at Farmer's Pride Inc., Fredericksburg. He also served as the residential manager for the Phoenix Services and formerly served in the National Guard. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters Karen, wife of Dwight Martin of Jonestown, Crystal, wife of Kenneth Rhoads of Fredericksburg, and Stacy L. Kreiser of Lebanon; a son, Richard S. Kreiser of Lebanon; sisters Barbara, wife of Paul Hank of Quentin, and Linda, wife of Lee Richards of Shoemakersville; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Lebanon Daily News obituaries of: 9 Apr 2000. J. Leroy Arnold, 103, of Manor-Care Health Center, Lebanon, died of natural causes Friday, April 7, 2000, in the home. Bom June 16,1896, in Lebanon, he was a son of the late William J. and Elizabeth M. Steckbeck Arnold. He earned a teaching degree from West Chester Normal School and taught for a year at Hebron Grammar School. In 1917, he entered World War I as a member of the motor pool in the signal corps. Once armistice was signed, he returned to Hebron to teach. He then entered the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a BA. in biology . He taught for three years at Doylestown High School in Bucks County. In 1926 he moved to California, entered the University of Southern California, and earned a masters of arts in marine biology. He taught science in the University High School, West Los Angeles, for 33 years until his retirement in 1959. He was a world traveler and worked as a ranger naturalist in Glacier National park, where he met and shook hands with the vacationing President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his family. He lived in Calfornia until 1986, when he returned to Lebanon. He was also a member of the Lebanon VFW. He received the French Legion of Honor Medal in June 1988. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Stella M. Seyfert, Marie Arnold, Hilda Allwein and Alice Arnold, and brothers Raphael, William, Moses and C. Cyril Arnold. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Cemetery, preceded by a viewing from 9:00 to 9:45 at Thompson Funeral Home, 126 S. Ninth St., Lebanon.

Born Aug. 1, 1928, in Pine Grove, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Emma Zimmerman Hoffman. She was a 1946 graduate of Pine Grove High School and had been employed at the former Fox-Knapp Manufacturing Co. in Pine Grove. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Pine Grove, where she served as the secretary for 25 years, and she was a member of the church's Willing Workers. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Kathy Rhen of the Pine Grove area; sons Kevin Kreiser and Randall Kreiser, both of the Pine Grove area; a sister, Janet Fidler of Pine Grove; brothers, Carl Hoffman of Pine Grove and Robert Hoffman of Lebanon; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Hoffman. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove. He was the husband of the late Margaret J. Everhart Boltz. Born in Myerstown on June 29, 1920, he was a son of the late Milton A. and Adeline Zellers Boltz. He was retired from the former Lebanon Steel Foundry and was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are son Ronald L. Boltz of Lebanon; daughter Carol A., wife of Clarence Unger, Lebanon; grandchildren Michael Unger and Michelle Ott; four great-grandchildren; sister Ethel M. Boltz of Myerstown and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Mary Lou Miller Boltz; sisters Adeline Lakatosh, Florence Mason and Violet Kunder; and brothers Russell M. and Lloyd A. Boltz. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he had served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Myerstown Grace Brethren Church in Myerstown and Navy Club Ship 91. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons E.P. "Skip" Brightbill Jr. of State College and Craig, husband of Nancy Brightbill, of Lebanon; daughters Christie Hicks of Lebanon, Dawn Bowman of Annville and Mary V. She graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital, where she majored in laboratory medicine. She was a 1977 graduate of Juniata College and a 1973 graduate of Northern Lebanon High School. She was the secretary for the Bunker Hill Grange and was a member of Lebanon County Pomona Grange, Pennsylvania State Grange & the National Grange. He was the operator of bingo in the Lebanon area for We All Care Community Organization of Lebanon (WACCO) for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He organized youth soccer in the Bernville area and was a former umpire in Berks County and former Berks County Commissioner of the Umpire Association and a basketball referee. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Overbrook, outside Philadelphia, which is how relocated in Bryn Mawr. While in school, she was an outstanding field hockey player and was named to the first team all Philadelphia field hockey team in her senior year. She was also a graduate of Colby-Sawyer College of New London, N.H., where she also played field hockey and was named to the second team all-New England field hockey team. For many years, she was an accomplished golfer and played in many women's tournaments. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Andrew J., husband of Anita Kreider, Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Linda, wife of Joel Wells, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Mary, wife of Steve Ostien, Berwyn; a sister, Patricia, wife of Edward A. Sutton, Palm City, Fla.; and a grandson, Jamie Wells, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. She was preceded in death by brothers Arthur O'Neill and Peter O'Neill, and a stepson, Thomas A. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kathleen A. Rhoad of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a son, Thomas E. Rhoad of Accomac, Va.; a sister, Sarah A. Walmer of Grantville; brothers John H. of Palmyra, William T. of Annville and Irvin L. of Grantville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Lebanon Daily News obits of 18 Nov 1932. JOSEPH ARNOLD FALLS OVER DEAD THIS AFTERNOON Joseph H. Arnold, of 510 Church ST., watchman at the Fifth St. crossing of the Reading Company for upward of fourteen years, fell over dead at 1:30 o'clock, at his post of duty, although not actually on duty at the time. After eating a hearty dinner, he left his home In a cheerful mood and went to the watch box to relieve William Heagy, who served the first trick of the day. Arnold was on the second trick which starts at 2 o'clock. With fully a half an hour at his disposal, Arnold kidded those standing around thewatchbox, about the election, as he is an ardent Democrat. Heagy was on his knees, mending a wooden platform in front of the watch box when Arnold, who was leaning against a window, suddenly collapsed and with a groan fell upon him. Arnold was holding his hand over his heart in pain for a moment, and then sank prostrate. Dr. F. Allen Rutherford was called and pronounced the man dead from a heart attack. Coronor Manbeck was summoned and made an investigation which indicated that the man had suffered like attacks previously. The family directed the Thompson undertakers to take charge of the body. The Incident attracted considerahle attention on tho part of passersby who gathered together with the railroad men. John K. Weirich, who walked to work with the watch man, was one of those talking in the group with Arnold when he wile stricken. The deceased was born and raised in Lebanon and spent his earlier yearsf in the employ of the Bethlehem Steel Company. Besides his wife, nee Catherine Leiblg, he leaves five children; Anna, now at the Parochial school at Lykens, and known as Sister Mary Florian ; William, proprietor of a restaurant on Eighth Street; John and Sarah and Mary at home; He leaves the following; Mrs. Sylvester Arnold, Mrs. Mrs. Augustus Arnold, of Lebanon; Mrs.Harry Zellers, Harrisburg; Mrs.Cecelia Tice, Lebanon; Miss Rebecca Arnold, Steelton. Seventh Street, passed away at ten o'clock Monday night at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Her death was attributed to a complication of ailments. She had been sick for the past year. Mrs. Wolfe was a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church. In addition to her husband, Arthur, she is survived by two daughters. They are may Wolfe, of Harrisburg; and Mrs. John Shaeffer, of this city. Two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Jacobs of Lancaster; and Mrs. Bertha Selman, of Detroit, Michigan, also survive. He was a retired farmer, and was well known and highly esteemed among a wide circle of friends. The following children survive; Simon H., with whom he made his home; Mrs. Daniel Naftzinger, of Bellegrove; and Miss Martha Boltz of Sheridan. Seven grandchildren also survive. He was aged 74 years, 10 months, and 23 days. He was interred in Bellegrove Lutheran Cemetery.

She was the wife of William H. Demmy. Born May 19, 1922, in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, she w as a daughter of the late Ira and Esther Lengle Kohr. She had been employed by the Bethlehem Steel Co. in Lebanon, RCA in Lancaster, and was a secretary at the former Pomeroy's in Lebanon for many years. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Lebanon and served as a representative for Church Women United. Surviving, in addition to her husband are children Sally A., wife of Kenneth Simmons, and Polly L., wife of Clarence Siegrist, both of Lebanon; and Thomas W., husband of Sharon Demmy, Goldsboro, N.C.; a sister, Betty J., wife of Lloyd Nicholson, Fenwick Island, Del.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was the husband of the late Ethel M. Long, who died Dec. 24, 1968. He was born March 11, 1920 Lebanon to the late John D. and Jennie Kohr Long. He was a retired self-employed dentist. He was a graduate of Lebanon Valley College and Temple University. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Dental Assoc., the Mt. Lebanon Lodge 226 F&AM and the Post E Traveler's Protective Association. He is survived by sons John Long of St. Louis, and George H. Long of Lebanon; daughters Holly, wife of Randall Getz of Lebanon, and Joan H., wife of Fred Van Winkle of West Chester; a brother, Theodore K. Long of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Luther K. Long. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
