Lebanon Daily News funeral notices of: 6 Dec. 1929.... FIES - In Lebanon, on the 5th. inst., Cyrus Fies, aged 86 years, 1 month and 2 days. Funeral on Monday afternoon at 1:00 oclock from the daughters residence, Mrs. J. Howard Miley, at 755 Locust Street. Services at the residence. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Ebenezer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend without further notice. Friends may call Sunday evening 7 to 9 at the residence.
Lebanon Daily News obits of: 16 Mar. 1911.... William Fake, of Green Point, passed away at his house on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 oclock.He was in the 66th. year of his age. Dropsy and asthma are given as the cause of death. Mr. Fake was retired from active business, having been engaged in the lumber business some years ago. He was a member of the Green Point United Brethren Church, and the P. O. S. of A., at Onset. A widow, three daughters and two sons survive him. The funeral will be held at his late residence at Green Point on Sunday at 10:00 a. m., followed by a brief service in the United Brethren Church. Rev. Wolf and Rev. Wengert will be the preachers in charge. Burial in charge of Undertaker Strause, of Jonestown, will take place in the United Brethren Burial Plot at Green Point.
Lebanon Daily News obits of: 7 Dec. 1929.... Clarence Mease, 34, of 3652 Percy Street, Philadelphia, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mease, of 58 Moravian Street, Hebron, was instantly killed at 6:00 oclock Friday evening when struck by a truck driven by Elmer Young, 28, a negro, of Philadelphia. Young is employed by the Philadelphia Electric Company. Mease was struck while hurrying across Erie Avenue to board a trolley at Seventh Avenue. Young was arrested. The deceased was a former Lebanon man, who lived in Philadelphia for the past twelve years, where he was employed by Pennsylvania Sugar Refinery. Members of the Mease family today motored to Philadelphia to be with the widow of the dead man. Besides his widow, Anna, and one child, Doris; the following survive; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mease; two brothers, Earl, of Lebanon; and Charles, of Glassboro, New Jersey; Mrs. Calvin Faber, Lebanon; Mrs. Harry Heilman, Hartford, Conn.; and Mrs. Charles Coleman, Philadelphia. Interment to take place in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
Lebanon Daily News obits of: 12 Feb. 1957..... Frank B. Smith, 70, Lebanon Route 4, died very suddenly this morning at 9:45 o'clock on the Henry Heagy farm. Lebanon Route 4. Death was attributed to coronary occlusion, according to the coroner's report. He had gone to the Heagy farm to do some work. Smith was a retired farmer. He is a member of the Fontana U.B. Church. The survivors are his wife Lovina (Barnhart) Smith; children, Raymond D.; Ella, wife of Cloyd Umberger; Mary Louise, wife of William Umberger, all of Leban Route 4; Franklin S., Lancaster; 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Harvey S., Lebancn Route 5; Henry C.,.Lebanon Route 4; four sisters, Mrs. Phillip Schaak, Lebanon Route 1; Mrs. Alfred Gingich, Lebanon Route 4; Mrs. Peter Edris, York, Pa: Mrs. Paul Breidenstine. Sebring. Fla.; stepmother, Mrs. Martha Smith. Lebanon; three stepsisters, Erma, Verna and Miriam, all of Lebanon. His parents were the late Henry L. and Emma (Schaak) Smith. Burial site not known.
Lebanon Daily News obits of: 30 Mar. 1911..... Ephraim Walmer, a well known farmer in East Hanover Township, died on Sunday at his home, near Harpers, from dropsy and a complication of diseases. He was about 65 years old, and was a native of East Hanover Township. He was a member of the Reformed Congregation worshipping at Walmers Church. He leaves a wife and several children. Burial to take place in the Walmers Church Cemetery.
Lebanon Daily News obits of: 12 Feb. 1957..... Mrs. Ella L. Knapp, 71. of Tremont, died at her home Sunday afternoon. She was a native of Rausch Creek and the widow of Wilson Knapp. She resided In Tremont for the laqt 42 years. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Tremont, and the Daughter of American Revolution, Council 112, Tremont. , She is survived by a son and three daughters, and one brother four sisters. Nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs.. Emma Rumpf, of this city, is a surviving sister. Interment site not known.

She had been ill with compIication.s for a number of years. She was a member of the United Zion Church, Fredricksburg. The survivors are her husband, Alfred L. Miller; four sons. Daniel H., Lebanon Route 2; Frank A., Womelsdorf; Paul; Wheeling, Illinois; Harvev R., Lebanon Route 1; two daughters, Lillie M., wife of Sterling Kleinfelter, Lebanon; Sarah F., wife of Henry Kreider, Fredericksburg; two foster sons, Leroy A. Mease, and James C. Mease, both of West Lebanon. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Catherine Harner preceded her in death two years ago. She was the daughter of the the late Frank and Katie (Haldeman) Lutz. Interment location not available.

Hollingsworth, pastor of the First E. U. B.. Church, Palmyra, officiated. Burial was made in the Union Deposit Cemetery. Bearers, all members of the J. A. Schriver Mens Bible Class of the First E. U. B. Church, were Paul Hartz, Ray Hoerner, Russell Kieffer, Arthur Nornhold, harry Gordon and Ralph Shirk. The Smith Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Lebanon Daily News obits of: 22 Feb. 1957..... Miss Bessie M. Brandt, 67, 629 North Seventh Street, a former chirf nurse at the Veterans Hospital, Canandaigua, N. Y., died at 2:30 oclock this morning in the Good Samaritan Hospital. She had been in ill with complications for three months. A registered nurse, she was a graduate of the Reading Homeopathic Hospital. She was amember of Kochenderfers Evangelical United Brethren Church. The only survivor is a sister, Miss Dana S. Brandt, Lebanon. Her parents were the late Daniel W. and Mary J. (Moyer) Brandt. Intyerment to be in the Kochenderfer Cemetery.

Lebanon Daily News obits of: March 19, 2005..... Harvey R. Binkley, 79, Jonestown, died at home on Thursday, March 17, 2005. He was the husband of Margie A. Hopkins Binkley. Born in Union Township on Aug. 10, 1925, he was the son of the late Zephaniah and Carrie Ditzler Binkley. He retired in 1983 from the National Guard at Fort Indiantown Gap, where he had been a mechanic. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a life member of the Jonestown American Legion, Lebanon VFW Post 23 & R Field and Stream. He was a former member of the Navy Club. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a stepson Daniel Milburn of Lebanon and a brother, Arlan Binkley of Jonestown, and three step-grandsons. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Binkley, and sisters Edith, Pauline, Evelyn, Annie and Dorothy Binkley. His funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Strauss-Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home, 48 W. Market St., Jonestown, preceded by a viewing at 11:30 a.m. Interment in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

J.; Mrs. Mae Flowers, of Easton, Pa.; Mrs. Stella Kuhns and Mrs. Roy Fortna, both of Lebanon; three sons, Walter A., William F. and Albert, all at home; and several grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Kline, of Halfway, Lebanon County. Interment to be in the Zoars Church Cemetery, Mt. Zion.

Westenberger, of Eleventh and Mifflin Streets, died at the Good Samaritan Hospital Monday afternoon at 4:00 oclock, of heart trouble. She was a member of Memorial U. B. Church, and had the distinction of being the first organist in that church. Survivors are; one brother, Caleb Westenberger; one sister, Clara; one nephew, Henry; and also one niece, Nancy. Interment will be in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.

Mrs. Mollie Howard, wife of John Howard, of Green Point, passed away at the residence of her brother, Conrad Kreiser, in Green Point, on Sunday evening. She was aged 82 years, 6 months and 11 days. Her husband, & the brother with whom she made her home, are the only survivors.

She was the wife of the late Charles W. Weaber, who died in 1991. Born in Hershey on Sept. 5, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hilda Keller Zimmerman. She was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church, Lebanon. Surviving are sons Harold C. Weaber of Leesburg, Fla., Charles W. Weaber Jr. of Athens, Ga., and Paul J. Weaber of Lebanon; daughters Janice, wife of James Graby of Lexington, S.C., and Ruth, wife of Clyde Bomgardner of Campbelltown; brothers Robert Zimmerman of Sarasota, Fla., and George Zimmerman of N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.She was preceded in death by brothers William, David, and Edward Zimmerman and sisters Emma and Lois. Her funeral will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Bible Fellowship Church, 1635 Mill Road, Lebanon, preceded by a viewing at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, North Annville Township. Kreamer Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The funeral of David Moyer was held on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 oclock from the late residence, 403 West Main Street, Palmyra, officiated by Rev. Leban Huff, pastor of Evangelical Congregational Church, and Rev. P. F. Keckler, of the Church of God. A few hymns were rendered by the Steelstown Choir. Interment took place in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. The bearers were Herman Hetrick, Harry Yingst, John Landis and John Brehn. The Bordelmay Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

The funeral of Mrs. Mary Zerbe, relict of the late Dr. Jonathon Zerbe, of Schaefferstown, was held at 1:30 oclock from her late residence. Services were conducted in the Reformed Church in Schaefferstown by the Rev. Bachman, and interment was made in the church cemetery.

Miss Mary Ann Blattenberger, aged 19 years, died at her home in Bismarck, at 7:30 oclock on Wednesday evening, of a complication of diseases after an illness of five months. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Blattenberger, and will be buried on Sunday in Bismarck.
Lebanon Daily News obits of: 13 January 1923. The entire Union Township region is shocked to learn of the death of Elmer Norman Fake, which occurred yesterday afternoon at one oclock, at the age of 44 years. Death came suddenly as the result of a carbuncle. He was one of the prominent farmers and citizens of the Murray District. Besides conducting his farm, he worked in the mines of Schuylkill County. He held membership in the Jonestown Lodge of Odd Fellows. Surviving are his his wife and three sons; Warren, a student at the Hahneman Medical College, of Philadelphia; Lloyd and Elmer. The following sisters and brothers are also left; Katie Fake, of this city; Mrs. Christian Long, of Inwood; Mrs. F. Fritz, of Philadelphia; and Grant Fake, of Reading. Interment to be in the Pleasant Hill Chapel Cemetery.

Tobias, who resided with her son, Howard Tobias, at Wernersville, Berks County, passed away at her home at 2: 20 this morning, of general debility, after an illness of several years. She was aged 67 years, and was amember of the Zion Lutheran Church in Jonestown. She was formerly from Lebanon. Left to survive are her husband, William; and two sons, Howard, of Wernersville; and Fred, of Reading. Four grandchildren and one great-grand child also survive. Burial site not determined.

He was born in Lebanon County, and was the son of the late George and Amanda Brown Kreiser. He was a retired employee of Finks Bakery, Annville, and was a social member of the Washington Band of Annville. His wife, the former Carrie Fees died in 1968. Roy Darkes Buck, 58, of 134 Lincoln Street, Palmyra, died suddenly at 8:20 last night of a heart attack while enroute to a hospital in the Palmyra ambulance. He had been ill for six weeks, having previously suffered a heart attack. He was an employee of the H. E. Millard Lime and Stone Co. for the past 23 years. He was a pump operator. A native of Colebrook, he was a son of the late Clayton and Louisa (Darkes) Buck, and had lived in Palmyra for the past 38 years.He held membership in Palm Lutheran Church, Palmyra; Woodmen of the World Lodge, Hershey; Young Democratic Club, lebanon; and the Palmyra Sportsmen Association. Surviving are his wife, the former Vesta Mumma; a son, Robert B., Palmyra; 2 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Roy Dice, Mrs. Roy Rabold, Mrs. Paul Moyer, all of Palmyra; and Mrs. Bernice Basehore, of Hummelstown Route 2; and two brothers, Irvin, of Reading; and Charles, of the Lebanon VA Hospital. He was a retired farmer, and was of the Lutheran faith. He was the son of the Mr. and Mrs. Adam Fahler, of the Freen Point region of Lebanon County. He lived in this northern part of the county all of his life. He is survived by the following; sister, Miss Kate Fahler, of Lickdale; three nephews, Edgar Hoffman, of Jonestown; Sylvester Fahler, of Lebanon; and Russell Fahler, of Jonestown; two nieces, Viola Fahler, of Lickdale; and Mrs. John Marko, of Lebanon. Interment to be in the Sattazahn Lutheran Cemetery.

Klett, at Rexmont, with whom she resided. Death was due to diabetes, from which she had been suffering and was bedfast for the past year. She was aged seventy two, and was one of eleven children. Mrs. Hartmans husband was killed thirty-two years ago in the Cornwall Ore Mines, where he had been employed as a foreman. Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Klett are; sons, County Commisioner A. "Skip" Binner, 89, of 21 David Drive, Lebanon, died of natural causes Thursday, June 7, 2001, in the Good Samaritan Hospital He and his wife Catherine Springborn Binner were married 38 years. Born May 7, 1912, he was the son of the late Howard and Mamie Bachman Binner. He retired as an electrician after 40 years of service at Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of the Central Democratic, Royal Men's Club, Eagles Clubs and the Rescue Fire Co. He also was a well-known guitar player, having performed with Frank Dinunzio and many local bands. She was the wife of the late Rev. H. Carl Shuey. Born March 8, 1915, in Dauphin County, she was a daughter of the late Clement Albert and Ellen Kreider Albert Weikel. She was an ordained missionary minister in God's Missionary Church Inc., and she, her husband and her family served as missionaries in 1959 and 1960 in Cuba. From 1961 until 2002, they ministered to the Cuban and Hispanic people of Miami and Key West, Fla. She was a member of the Lebanon Valley Holiness Association and Lebanon God's Missionary Church and was a charter member of the Lebanon Valley Gospel Band. She graduated from Jonestown High School in 1930 and Lebanon Valley College Business School. Surviving are son Larry C., husband of Martha Shuey of Ono; daughters Marilyn W., wife of the Rev. Herman K. Knoll of Paoli, Ind., Carlene R., wife of H. He was the husband of Evelyn Batz Yordy, with whom he celebrated a 58th wedding anniversary May 11. Born Sept. 19, 1920, in Swatara Township, he was a son of the late Adam and Ruth Yeagley Yordy. In 1983, after 36 years, he retired from Millard's Quarry and Bethlehem Steel, where he had been a truck driver. He was an active farmer until a tractor accident in 1997. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe with the 9th Armored Division, where he was in the Allied invasion on D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart with three Clusters, three Bronze Stars for meritorious service and four Battle Stars. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Terry M. Yordy and Roger D. Yordy, both of Jonestown, and Randy A. Yordy of Grantville; daughters Doris L. Solmiren of Tacoma, Wash., Nancy E. Ritchie of Jonestown, Peggy J., wife of Paul Bowman of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and Brenda J., wife of Gerald Good of Grantville; sisters Oleana Boyer of Bernville, Arlene Watson and Thelma Benner, both of Lebanon, and Leona Reed of Myerstown; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, brother Lester Yordy and sisters Dorothy Gangitano and Betty Kohr. His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Strauss-Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home, 48 West Market St., Jonestown, with a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Kreiser, who lived with Fryberger and husband for many years; brothers Melvin, husband of Betty Kreiser; and Paul, husband of Nancy Kreiser, both of Lebanon, Benjamin, husband of Joyce Kreiser of Ono; Lloyd Kreiser of York; Raymond of Houstontown; and Irvin, husband of Linda Mease of Jonestown; sisters, Nadine, wife of John Kreiser and Pearl Kreiser, both of Jonestown; Pauline, wife of Lewis Supplee of Lewisberry; Mary Burkholds of Fredersburg; & numerous nieces and nephews. He was employed for many years by the James F. McGovern Furniture Company as a cabinet maker. He was a native of this city. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he rallied to the call, and had served through several hard campaigns. He is survived by the following children; Paul, at home; Raymond, of Easton; Howard, of Reading; the Misses Frances and Gertrude, at home; and Mrs. Sarah Smith, of Altoona; and one sister, Mrs. Pierce Thompson. He was a member of the Summit Church of the Brethren, near Broadway, Va. He was a janitor at the Herbert Hoover Building, Linglestown Road, Susquehanna Township. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Vada G. layman; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene McGinnis, of Enola; and Miss Mary Ann Layman, at home; and a brother, Marvin L.; and two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Eagle and Miss Ruth Layman, all of Palmyra. Burial site unknown.

Former owner and operator of the R. D. Granger Masonry Contractors, Cleona, Granger retired in 1977 after 35 years. He'was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Cleona, the Men's Bible Class and the Cleona Senior Citizens of which he was treasurer. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons: James R., Frankfurt, W. Germany; John D., Midlothian, Va.; one daughter, Joan E., Wife of Wilson W. Miller Jr., Macungie; 6 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sister Anne, wife of George Dower, Allentown; and three brothers; William, Harry Jr. and J. Alfred Granger, all of Annville. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Immanuel United Methodist Church, Cleona, for Russell D. Granger, husband of Miriam Ensminger Granger, of 25 West Penn Avenue, Cleona. The Rev. Interment was in the Grand View Memorial Park, Annville, with Elvin Fake, William Dietz, Clarence Gingrich, and Bradley, Brian and Brett Miller, serving as pallbearers.
