Chase Donnell's Wish For A Cure

Raising Awareness for Childhood Cancer

About Chase

August 10, 2007 was Chase's 10th birthday. At his birthday party he started feeling tired and sick to his stomach.

August 11 we went to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital to visit Chase's cousin, Dylan who had  been diagnosed with Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Upon returning home from the hospital Chase started crying because he believed his stomach was protruding like Dylans.  Later during the night, he did start running a fever, and started getting sick.

August 12 we made an appointment to see his pediatrician who sent us for x-rays even though his blood work was normal. He called later that night saying that there was something in the abdomen but we needed to have a CT scan to have a clearer picture what we were looking at.

August 13 we had the CT scan and were called immediately from the doctors office. Chase had a tumor the size of a small watermelon in his abdomen. What was seen in the xray had doubled in less than 24 hours. We were immediately sent to Monroe Carell's Childrens Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, and diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma.

Sadly, he passed away on March 10, 2008. His last wish through the Make A Wish Foundation was to renovate his school gymnasium at Walter Hill School and to raise money & awareness for childhood cancer.

The power of Chase's wish has continued to grow, touch other lives and prove the infinite ability of a wish to live on its own.
