| Researchers have so far been unable to find any substantive clue to the parents of Susan Vause. She was born about 1739 in Frederick County, Virginia and died in 1805 in New Creek, Hardy County, West Virginia. Records indicate there was more than one Vause family living in Virginia at the time Peter Harness met and married Susan. She may have been related in some way to Capt. William Vause who later served with distinction in the Revolutionary War. She is not mentioned in any of the discovered records of the William Vause family so she was likely not a sister but perhaps a cousin. |
