| Notes for Strother McNEILL |
Strother McNeill married twice, first to Mary Ann Renick (they had 5 children), and then to Amy Pugh. None of the children he fathered with Amy made it past the age of 15 except John Hanson and George. John Hanson would go on to become the founder- leader of McNeill's Rangers, a Confederate partisan group that staged effective guerrilla warfare against regular Union forces in the Civil War.
