About the Artisan



Michel Laurine
 Michel Bachman first studied professional decorative finishing at the Faux Finish School of Louisville, KY.  A lifelong love of color and texture brought her to decorative painting in 2002.  Based in Houston's Clear Lake area, she offers faux finish services to all of Houston Metro.

Michel's work has been featured at the 34th Annual Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society Showhouse and in the Chicago Sun Times.  She collaborates with several interior design firms and professional muralists.

Michel is an alumnus of Texas A&M University.  She has lived near Chicago, Houston, and New Orleans.  Michel's fascination with color and light has recently grown into a "harmless" darkroom photography addiction.

About Working with Art & Edifice


We understand that contracting with an artisan can be a daunting experience.  Art & Edifice makes every attempt to simplify the project process for all involved.  These are the activities you can expect:
  1. Contact Art & Edifice
  2. We will schedule an appointment to view your space (times are flexible to fit your schedule)
  3. Our artisan brings samples to your home or business and offers suggestions
  4. We will measure your space
  5. Some estimates can be provided during the consultation, some will be delivered within 1-2 days
  6. Your approval of the estimate (and delivery of a deposit) locks in the dates for your project
  7. Your selected materials are ordered
  8. Art & Edifice makes customized samples for your approval
  9. Once a sample is chosen, work begins as scheduled
Because faux finishes are more complicated than many other wall coverings, this process can take some time to complete.  The average project will last about one month from the time you first contact Art & Edifice to completed room.  The typical project requires our artisan to paint in your space for around one week.

During peak seasons, our artisan can be booked for painting several months in advance.

For these reasons, please make sure to contact us as soon as possible if your project has time limitations.  Homeowners wanting to create a special room for holiday celebrations should begin planning in September or earlier.  If you are in the process of remodeling, consider contacting us well in advance of your desired time frame so we can best schedule with other contractors.
