Jack's License Plate Collection

Personal Background 
              I was born in  Taipei City, Taiwan Republic Of China. I graduated China Industrial Technical College "1975" majored in Architectural Engineering. I moved to United States in 1985, and lived in Connecticut State for 10 years. 1995, I moved west to Vancouver Washington State. I work for the City of Vancouver Construction Department as a construction inspector. 
Collecting License Plates
             Back in Connecticut State, I worked in construction sites and often met new out of state workers. When they switched their car plates I ask them for their old plates and that is how I started collecting. In the past 2-3 years collecting plates have been a lot easier and plus you get access to the whole world. With E-mail communication is instant and time is saved when making a trade or purchase. Also with the rise of Ebay, buying online and trading adds a whole new dimension to obtaining plates. Now you can buy and trade from anyone and from anywhere in the world
Reasons for Collecting
            I think each plate has its own history, of who owned it, what kind of car it was on, and just where it came from and how old. Just looking at a plate you can learn about the state identity. Also if you come across new plates from foreign countries, its quite interesting to look up and see just where this place is and sometimes they are very small countries. I love the art on the plates some are simple and plain while others being colorful and detailed in design. Also its exciting for me to track down and trade hard to find plates with other license plate collectors, cause I get a great chance to meet and talk to new people.
