Congratulations on finding the new site! As you can see, there are several formatting changes. Several features were either obsolete or under utilized.  Therefore I kept only those topics that were used and updated frequently and cut the rest loose.  As I get more time I will fine tune things or change the site altogether.  We'll see.

USCG Auxiliary Visitor "Givin' Back..again!"

I had to steal this portion of an article Wayne of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 13-06 Division 13, 1st Southern District  kindly allowed us to host and put it right up front.  It sums up 6 of the most basic, yet easily over looked rules of boating.  Check out the others articles over at the Safety Section!

  • Don't turn off the engine until you have secured your vessel, or are confident the anchor has set.
  • Don't turn off the engine until you have secured your vessel, or are confident the anchor has set.
  • You never throw an anchor, you drop an anchor.
  • Make sure the anchor line's bitter end is secured to the boat prior to dropping your anchor.
  • Never just jump off your boat without making sure of the ground underneath.
  • If you're going to violate these safety rules, don't do it with fifty boats anchored within eye shot!

A note from the dock hand:

Better late than never...but check out this boater's check list from Vessel Assist!  A very handy tool to be sure you do not overlook anything when getting ready to head out.  You know, that time when everyone is talking at you while you try to juggle multiple items in your head.

As always, I welcome everyone to pass along leads to books, web sites, and other materials that boaters of all experience levels may be interested in.  ALSO!  if you have something you want to write or an opinion or story to pass along in the Crow's Nest send it on over!  Community participation was the original concept of these pages.

WARNING!  Since Google bought Deja, some of the links to discussions in the FAQ section are now dead!  I am aware of this and am working to update the FAQ to account for this as well as to refine it overall.

Have fun, sign the guest book, and leave me a note if you feel so inclined!
