Useful Links
If you think you have some links the education seeking boater may find useful, pass them along!
| http://www.marinesurvey.com/yacht/index.html | Dave Pascoe's Survey Site. A fantastic resource of information on boats and systems. Geared more toward large boats there is a wealth of knowledge for all to learn from. |
| http://www.usps.org | USPS is a non profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in seamanship, navigation and related subjects. |
Web Directory, find what you're looking for! |
Another library of links. If you are on a mission, this is a good place to browse! |
Weather Underground |
All the weather info you could shake a stick at. I linked to the Marine portion, but there is much more as well! |
Here is a nifty site created and hosted by Rob Boydston. Don't let the name fool you, this site has a lot of information any new boater will be interested in. Notably tips and rules on navigation, anchoring, safety, and weather. If you are from Georgia or the southeast, even better! |
A nice site for window shopping. Many features. |
| YachtWorld.Com. A nice online magazine type site. A lot of good reading. My favorite site for looking at BOATS FOR SALE and pictures. A site you might like to visit while at the office <grin>. | |
Another boat buying site. This one specializes in freshwater boats. |
| An outstanding site of boating knowledge for all. Quizes, glossary, news. Very well done! | |
Boat U.S. is the Boat Owners Association of the U.S. Sort of a AAA for boats. If you are serious about boating, join this organization! The WEB site is worthy of home page designation in your browwer. Check out the Buying Guide and consumer affairs section for very pertinent information. |
| This is actually a retail site for marine equipment, engines in particular. I add this link as Mike (marine power technician) is a frequent contributor to online discussions regarding marine power issues. He is also working in a FAQ which will prove to be useful to those looking for information. Check this site out for the cost of a new stern drive if you are worried about trashing yours on stumps and other flotsam you might encounter. | |
Ok, this site is a bit of a personal favorite. If you are one of the growing number of boaters in the mid-Atlantic region this site has much information on Bay going-ons as well as basic information for boating and equipment. Very well done. |
Here is another site for those new and interested in Chesapeake Bay Boating. This is mostly a well laid out digest site of everything Maryland Boating. However, they also have taken the time to compile databases of boat ramps, destinations, and other original content to pass along to the boating enthusiast. Well laid out, not overly glitzy, and informative. |
Author Charles T. Low gave me a heads up on his web site and book. This site goes beyond describing his book and has features such as Tips, Questions and Answers, and Links. Most focus on the black art of, you guessed it, Boat Docking! Definitely worth a visit. |
Here is a really nifty site for learning navigation in an online class format. I have NOT gone through it myself. My one comment is, WEB based learning is fine, but can't replace experience. Be sure you get some hands on training from a live expert as well. |
| So, someone drops me a note and asks if I know any good sources for fiberglass repair. "No." But here a bunch of links. Those of us cleaning up from a season of hard use should be able to find everything we need. | |

For those of you with an itchy throttle arm or just an interest in tunnel boats, stop by this site. |
