Cook County, Illinois Migrations Project
~ tracing our ancestors as they moved across America ~

Welcome!

All Illinois counties are part of a national project called Migrations. The goal is to trace the migratory patterns of our ancestors from the time the first settlers came to New World thru the mid-twentieth century. Migrations supports family research by maintaining a free, searchable, database of surnames and places.

The purpose of the Cook County project is to trace migration patterns into and out of Cook County, Illinois. If your ancestors lived here and you know where they came from, or if you know where they moved to, please take this opportunity to submit the information to Migrations so that your ancestors can be included in this important national project.

Volunteers are needed to help create county pages. If you are familiar with a particular county and have gathered (or can gather) a list of helpful genealogical websites for that area, we could use your help. You do not need to know HTML. We've created a template to make it easy! For more information, please contact the Illinois State Migrations Coordinator.

With support from visitors like you, the Illinois database now has over _2000_ entries. Let's keep it growing! Submit your family data or volunteer to transcribe information from primary source records, biographical sketches, obituaries or other records into the database
