Clerk's
Office - Susan Deraedt
Phone: 810-765-1145 ext. 207 When a resident is trying to track down an answer to questions about China Township — from finding out where to vote to getting minutes from the last board meeting — the place to start is with Susan Deraedt, the Township Clerk. Perhaps the most important function of the clerk's office, of course, is to run local, state and national elections within the community's borders. This job includes keeping track of registered voters, mailing absentee voter applications, and gearing-up for the election by recruiting poll workers and preparing the election ballot. The Clerk’s office serves as the information base for our residents. Township Clerk’s Statutory Duties
Notes From The Clerk Dear China Township Residents, I’d like to introduce myself to you. My name is Susan Deraedt, and I am the elected Clerk for the Charter Township of China. I would like to take this opportunity to say "THANK-YOU" to all of those who voted for me. And, to those who did not, I would just like to reassure you that I will try very hard to do an excellent job as clerk for the township that we live in and love. I have been married to my husband, Mike, for twenty-six years. We have two sons, Mike Jr. , who is twenty three, and Travis, who’s nineteen. My family and I have lived in the Township since 1997. We relocated from Fort Gratiot, Michigan, near Birchwood Mall. My husband and I wanted to live and raise our two boys in a more rural area, but one that was close to schools and shopping. We found what we were looking for in China Township. We also found a great community with friendly and helpful neighbors. I started working at the Township Office as the Secretary/Receptionist and Building Department Assistant in January of 2001. I enjoyed the interaction with the township residents on a daily basis. I am always willing to “brag” about what a nice community we have and how friendly the residents are in this area. I felt that as an elected official the township I would be more effective at helping to shape the future of our township. I feel China Township is a GREAT place to live and work; with your help and support I know we can make sure it stays that way. I feel that I’ll be an asset to the community, and I’ll try to be fair and impartial to all of the township’s residents as I fulfill my obligations as China Township Clerk. I have nineteen years of business experience and 48 years of life experience to help guide me in making the best decisions for everyone in our community. If anyone has any comments or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at my office and I’ll be glad to listen and help in any way possible. Sincerely, Susan E. Deraedt, Clerk |
