The Forbidden City: site of royal intrigue and unimaginable wealth, this palace complex was off-limits to commoners for over 500 years. The scale of this place is unreal. It’s absolutely massive. There are literally 9,999 rooms here. If a baby was born and spent each day of its life in a different room, by the time it has seen every room it would be twenty-seven years old!

Parts of The Forbidden City are pretty run down. Renovation has been underway for years.
