This is my indoor battlefield for 1/24 scale tanks. I have several Forces of Valor tanks and two Vs tanks (IR versions). This is a great setup in that it's indoors so I can run my tanks at any time and can leave it set up since it's in my basement.
Some miniature artificial Christmas trees from Michael's craft shop and cardboard houses were the start of this project.
The trees are quite tough, in Connecticut I had them outside in my battlefield for at least two winters and they still look good!
I decided on the dimensions by placing the items around and driving the tanks to see how much space would be good. It turned out that an 11ft x 27ft area would work out great.
I enclosed the area with some scrap particle board approximately 24" high. Then I laid down some camo denim material. The reason for this was that the concrete floor was wearing down the plastic treads. The denim is a lot easier on them and gives enough resistance or friction so it's not slippery.
Here the houses are spray painted, the trees are mounted in blocks of wood that still need to be painted. I plan to build up some terrain and lay the denim over it. I bought about 20 yards and have plenty left over to expand or cover hills, ridges or whatever...
Here's a distant shot. I can take it all down if I need the room in about two hours. But what I like is it's ready to go whenever I want, regardless of the weather. I had to put two light fixtures over the center for extra light when I run the tanks with the wireless cameras, the basement just didn't have enough light. It look great running the tanks with the cameras, a real first person perspective!
