Lou Faix is a veteran amateur astronomer who has spoken to the Sun City Vistoso Astronomy Club on several occasions.  By vocation, he is an engineer and a graduate of GMI.  He has been a Project Engineer and an Engineering Department Manager for a large Automotive and Truck Manufacturer.

 

In 1969, Lou’s interest in Astronomy significantly increased and with the help of Edmunds Scientific Company, he built his first telescope. Eventually he built a total of 5 telescopes and an observatory to house the fifth one.

 

He has published several articles in  Sky & Telescope dealing with his innovative telescope designs.

 

Lou has held numerous positions in several amateur astronomical groups and was the General Regional Chairman for the Astronomical League for several years.  He is currently the Vice President of the Saddlebrooke Skygazers Astronomy Club as well as an active member of the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association.
