Mentor Program
In fiscal year 2000/2001 the Club established a mentoring activity, in which experienced members help less-experienced members learn to more-effectively use their telescopes. The program involves sharing in the setup and alignment of telescopes, and in the viewing of sky objects in an attempt to enhance the experience and abilities of members of the Club. In practice, a host invites several guests on nights when viewing might be good. (Of necessity this is done at the last minute, because of the vagaries of the weather.) So far, more than half a dozen hosts (mentors) have volunteered, as have slightly more guests. Experience with the activity has been positive so far, and it is expected to continue.
To sign up for the Mentor Program as either a guest or a host, contact Fred Mills by e-mail at fredmills@mailaps.org, or phone at 825-7321.
