Sun City Astronomy Club

Regular meetings are held monthly from October through May on the third Thursday of the month from 7:00-9:00 PM in the meeting rooms of the Social Hall on Rancho Vistoso Blvd. Undoubtedly, the feature of our monthly meetings is our ability to attract very exciting guest speakers. Our speakers are generally world-class astronomers who are available in the Tucson area from such organizations as the University of Arizona Astronomy Department and Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, NOAO, NRAO, Whipple Observatory, Kitt Peak, the Vatican Observatory, etc.

Another feature of our monthly meetings is our "Open Forum" during which members of the club discuss various topics in astronomy. The guest speakers usually participate in our Open Forums. Overall, our monthly meetings follow a general format of having the speaker first on the agenda. A Q&A period follows the speaker’s presentation, and then a brief period is set aside for club business. The concluding period of the meeting is dedicated to the Open Forum.
