It is not necessary for you to own web authoring software such as Front Page or Dream Weaver. The course will focus on using the program, Nvu., which is free software that can be downloaded from http://net2.com/nvu/download.html.

You need to have:

Windows XP or higher or MAC OSX Version 10.5 or higher as the operating system on your home computer.
A local broadband service such as Comcast or Qwest.
Experience surfing the web
Knowledge of how to create a basic word-processor document with Microsoft Word, Apple Works or other similar software, and, within a document, know how to:

· Highlight a word or group of words;

· Drag and drop them;

· Or, copy, cut and paste them.

Experience with creating folders.
Experience in copying and moving files between folders.
Experience in naming and renaming files and folders.
Some understanding of the significance of file extensions.
An existing e-mail account.
An established personal web site, or willingness to establish a personal web site before classes begin. (The instructor will assist you in this regard if necessary by phone or in person.)
