HandyShopper Testing

Warning: The test versions here can read databases from previous versions, but once they open a database the database will no longer be usable by the normal released versions. You should back up your databases before installing a test version, otherwise if for some reason you need to downgrade to an older version you may not be able to open your databases until you upgrade again.

When reporting problems: Please give detailed steps for how to reproduce the problem. You can email to chrisant AT premier1.net (replace the AT with an @ sign, of course) a database file or any other files and instructions that help to explain or reproduce the problem.

Install a test version the same way you install the normal released versions.

DEBUG versions include a significant amount of extra program code to perform self-diagnostics while the program is running, to help catch bugs before the product is officially released. These self-diagnostics make the DEBUG versions larger and slower than normal released versions. Palm OS devices are too slow for DEBUG versions to perform acceptably, so the DEBUG version is only available for Windows Mobile.

If you encounter a popup window whose title is "HandyShopper Assert" then the self-diagnostics have detected something amiss. Please send me an email with detailed steps for precisely how to reproduce the assert, and include the complete text from the popup window. To continue despite the self-diagnostic warning, tap the Ignore button and the program will behave the same way that a released version would (which is not necessarily a desirable result; after all, you just ran into some kind of bug). If you tap the Abort button then the program will immediately exit and you will lose any unsaved changes. Don't tap the Retry button: it doesn't actually retry anything, it just activates a debugger if the device is attached to a debugger.
