Our original plan was to have an all-natural childbirth at the Birthing Center in Indianapolis, but after three days of unproductive, painful labor pains, our midwives convinced us that going to the hospital was the right thing to do. So we checked into Methodist Hospital on Wednesday night, and April was started on Pitosin (a labor-inducing drug) around 8:00 pm, and was given an epidural around midnight. Once she recieved the medicine, she was heard to say, "Ahhh. This was the right thing to do..."
And she was right. The contractions smoothed out, and active labor began around 6:30 am. With only a short hour of pushing, Emily was born. April said that the pushing at this point was much easier than the earlier, three-day-long, "latent" phase of labor.
