When I'm not sitting in front of a Macintosh, here's how I spend my time.
I watch movies a lot--mostly on video. If it's on the shelf at Blockbuster and you've heard of it, I've probably seen it. If you haven't heard of it, there's still about a fifty-fifty chance I've seen it. Contrary to popular belief, I enjoy all kinds of movies, not just those featuring gratuitous nudity! Exceptions to the rule: musicals (can the music and get on with the story!), old westerns, and hack-and-slash gore flicks.
My favorite kind of music is hard rock. Among my current favorite bands are Metallica, Soundgarden, AC/DC, Dream Theater, and Queensryche. However, I grew up on classic rock such as Boston, Kansas, Styx, Yes, and Van Halen, so I enjoy them as well. I cannot stand country music--the Eagles are as close as I get.
My all-time favorite band, by far, is Rush. I own all but their first album on compact disc, I've seen them at least five times live, and I subscribe to The National Midnight Star, a Rush mailing list. Check out the Rush/NMS Home Page! Neil Peart is one of my heroes (I've always wanted to learn to play drums...).
If you're a Rush fan, too, and live in the Chicagoland area, be sure to check out Animations, a Rush tribute band, at a bar or club near you. Email them to get on their mailing list and be notified of upcoming appearances. They kick ass!
While at Loral, I got involved with Ultimate. Ultimate is like soccer with a Frisbee instead of a ball. For more info, check out the comprehensive Ultimate page.
I also found a large contingent of Euchre fans at Loral. Euchre is a card game that seems to be most popular in the midwest, similar to bridge. I grew up playing Euchre, and you could always (and probably still can) find a foursome available any time of the day or night while I was in college at Rose-Hulman. Here are the rules and a history of the game.
Christmas 1997 was the day I recieved a Sony Playstation. Since then, I've stayed up way too late on way too many nights playing such great games as Soul Blade, Tekken 3, Gran Turismo, and NBA Live '98. You can enable a Playstation unit to play "imported" game titles by installing a $20 chip.
Last but not least, I'd better mention my wife, April, my growing-cuter-every-day daughters Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Emily Grace. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...
