I am a singer/songwriter of the
pop, adult alternative rock genre. I released my first full-length cd,
Of A Reason And A Rhyme in 2005 and released my second cd, For A Ride
January 2009.
The songs represent my attempt to understand what goes on around me and
why it matters. Isn't it time for us to take personal responsibility for
our circumstances and the state of our planet?
For me it is about truth, integrity, compassion and kindness (especially
to ourselves) as a way to bring light and balance back into our lives
and as a result, back into the world.
My search for understanding is my commitment to truth and my songs are
my way of sharing what has been gifted to me through this search.
How, do you think, does the
internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
By making it possible to work
outside the giant music monopoly that is the current record
industry. It is the best thing that could happen to both independent
musicians and fans of independent music.
Would you sign a record
contract with a major label?
Only on my terms and without
giving out any rights to my songs. I like the indie-artist path of
self determination.
Band History:
A singer/songwriter since 12
years old, I had my first band, The Informers in San Francisco,
California for a short time then started Temper Temper which played
the SF Bay Area local scene for a couple of years with some big gigs
like the first Martin Luther King celebration at SF City Hall and a
couple of shows at the Golden Gate Park bandshell. I took a break to
have kids and in the process, relocated to Portland, Oregon where I
found my heart by composing songs on the piano, (up until this point
I had always written songs using the guitar). I hope my expression
through this music serves to offer hope, understanding, and clarity
to those who resonate with the songs and their presentation. We must
each do our part, listening to our call and finding our purpose.
Isn't that the best we can do? What do you hear?
For a more detailed bio see my website for "my story".
Your influences?
My vocal style strikes a
similarity to the strength of Amy Lee (Evanescence) with the range
and deep emotion of Tori Amos, Sarah Mclachlan, and Loreena
McKennitt. My influences include early Elton John, Joni Mitchell's
Court and Spark, and America among others. More recent influences
include The Cure, The Clash, Talking Heads, The Pretenders, Garbage,
The Eels, Jude...
