What's Really Going on Chris?

Agnes listens to her messages, hears about the baby and then goes to work. Bert is waiting to apologize to her and she lets it slip about the baby. David walks into the office. Bert vows to Agnes that he won't tell David about the baby, goes into David's office and does just that. David calls Maddie and asks her how long she's known and if she was planning on telling him. He tells her that he's catching the next plane to Chicago. She asks him not to, but he hangs up on her. He rushes to the airport, but all the flights are booked. He goes to the airport bar to drown his sorrows and meets Scott Huntley. They talk. Huntley convinces David to 'raise a little hell' to get on a plane before it's too late for him to 'throw pebbles' at Maddie's window. David leaves and gets a seat on a plane. He comes back to thank Huntley, but Huntley transfers the handcuffs from his wrists onto David's and escapes. David is taken to prison because everyone thinks he is Huntley. He tries to tell the guards that it is a mistaken identity, but no one listens. David accidentally starts a food fight and is thrown into solitary. At the end he has an imaginary conversation with Maddie expressing his fear that he'll be stuck in prison for the next 20 years and Maddie never tells their child about him.

Chris's Obsessive Analysis

David has been patient, following Maddie's rules. Even after last night's indiscretion David still impulsively rushes to her side (or tries to) when he hears about the baby. At this point he obviously believes that the baby is his (as does Viola.) We find out through his "conversation" with Maddie that he wants to be a part of the baby's life. This is our first indication that David wants to be a father.
Some people wish that David had gone to Chicago. I'm glad he didn't. Maddie would have never forgiven him for disrespecting her feelings. He also proved Maddie wrong on some of the things she thought she knew about him.
