Episode 5- The Murder's in the Mail
The Case
David gets Blue Moon a contract with Easy Credit Assurance Corporation (ECAC) to collect their bad debts. Maddie doesn't really want Blue Moon to be bill collectors, but agrees to it because they need the money. They find one of ECAC's clients, Roy Hirsch, dead. When they return with the Police they find the body gone, and a different (live) man claiming to be Roy Hirsch. They return that evening to investigate. They find the furniture gone and David accidently finds a hidden note written in Russian. They hide when someone else shows up, obviously looking for the note. The next day "Roy Hirsch" wants to see Maddie and Dave. They escape but find the man looking for the note the night before in the garage. They escape again but get chased and caught. The man tells them he's from the CIA and needs the note to prevent an international dignitary from being assassinated that night at a dinner party. David hands over the note. After the CIA guy leaves, David realizes the CIA guy might actually be the assassin. Maddie and Dave go under cover at the dinner and attempt to save the chinese diplomat, 'the man with a mole on his nose.'
What's Really Going on Chris?
Maddie is upset with all the bills and decides Blue Moon needs to 'cut back'. David bursts in the office to tell Maddie that the piano he ordered has arrived, and the pool table and satellite dish are on the way. Maddie is furious but David explains that they are all to improve productivity, an idea he got reading the book "Being Second Stinks." He gets Maddie to go along with the bill collecting. He later gets her to investigate the death of Roy Hirsch, even though there is no client.
