Episode 4- Next Stop Murder
The Case
Agnes wins a mystery magazine contest. Her prize is spending 24 hours on JB Harland's 'murder' train. Every year JB Harland, a famous mystery writer, 4 of his friends and the winner of the contest have to solve a 'murder' on the train written by JB. Agnes asks Maddie and Dave to drop her off. Maddie has a date, but she and David get stuck on the train thanks to David. The train cannot stop to let them off. JB turns up dead and it appears that Agnes is framed for the murder. David figures out who really did it while Agnes falls for JB's assistant Rodney (played by Allyce Beasley's real life husband at the time!)
What's Really Going on Chris?
Not much. This is the first 'Agnes' episode and much of the focus is on her. There is one interesting scene with Maddie and Dave. After helping Agnes settle into her room, Dave wants to 'check it out.' He pushes some buttons and finds the bed. He gets Maddie to sit next to him on the bed. Dave turns on the charm, closes the curtains, turns down the lights and tells Maddie how 'romantic' train travel is. He then presses the wrong button and they end up stuck in the bed in the wall together. While stuck in the bed in the wall, the train starts and won't stop for 24 hours. Maddie gets mad at David because she thinks he got them 'shanghai'd' on purpose.
Chris's Obsessive Analysis
There isn't much to say for this episode. David acts a little strangely when discussing her date. Maddie obviously lets David 'put the moves' on her to a point. If she didn't know what was going on she's a moron!.
Memorable Moments
- The scene where Maddie and Dave get stuck in the bed in the wall.
- David saying to Maddie, "I love it when you talk mean to me."
- Maddie saying, "I don't think..." and David responding,"that's OK, you look good."
- Maddie and Agnes' first heart to heart.
