Repairing a Broken Lift/Slide Mechanism
The right side lift/slide mechanism had a crack that weakened the whole
assembly. Fortunately it didn't break completely in half. Notice the
crack beneath the roller in the center of Fig-1 and from the bottom in
Fig-2.
To repair, I thoroughly cleaned the part with lacquer thinner and sanded the
surface to be repaired.

I then cut a piece of flashing material to fit over the damaged area and made
sure it wrapped around the edges. I mixed up some J-B Weld and applied it
to the surface of the damaged area the size of the patch. I also worked
some into the crack. I then filled the the hollow area between the
side with the crack and the undamaged side. Fig-3 I made sure all
the slide surfaces were clear of the epoxy and none of the repair will hinder
the mechanism operation.
Hopefully, the patch and the epoxy that filled the area around the break will be
strong enough to hold up.
