Rolling Stones History Tour

Rolling Stones History Tour: Cheltenham Sites

Brian Jones was born and raised in Cheltenham Spa, Gloucestershire which is a couple of hours northwest of London. He was also buried there following his death in 1969. I visited his grave for the first time in the spring of 1994, and found it to be one of the most moving experiences of my life. As a Stones fan, you see photos of Brian's grave in most of the books, but it's quite another thing to sit on a bench across from it!

I returned to Cheltenham in July 1999 to attend the 30th anniversary memorial in his honor. The pictures from this event can be found on my Brian Jones Memorial page. In the meantime, enjoy these photos from around Brian's hometown.
