London 1999

It was a dream come true to see the Stones in concert on their home turf, and it was everything I expected and so much more! The Stones were clearly happy to be home, and the crowd was fantastic. You might think a concert is a concert, but there was something truly special about these shows. I brought my 7 year-old daughter Shannon, and I have fond memories of her singing along to most of the songs -to the amusement of the people sitting around us! I hope someday she appreciates that her first concert was the Rolling Stones at Wembley Stadium!
There were many other fun things that happened which contributed to this wonderful trip: I met many internet Stones pals for the first time: Gary (Gazza) and his lovely wife Heather, Linda from Boston (Ruby213), and Tom L. from Virginia. And my first cyber-pal, John L. from L.A. (Wembley99), somehow found us at the June 12 show and surprised me with the Voodoo Lounge CD-ROM.
I'll never forget: pre-show parties at the Connaught pub... wandering around the grounds at Wembley, soaking up the atmosphere and searching for souvenirs... waving to Gazza and Heather in the stadium with our tongue hand-wavers... the Stones flag-race in the crowd before the show... Radio Gaga... the excellent Conifers Bed & Breakfast that Gazza reserved for us -within walking (stumbling?) distance of Wembley!... losing my camera on the second night, leaving the concert a little early to search for it, finding it in my room, and listening to the last 3 songs from the B&B... great dinner after the second show with everyone... So many memories of a GREAT time!
