Monogram reissue of Aurora classic.

The Creature came late to the Universal lineup, since the movie came out in 1954. In 3d no less! It was the genius of the monster design that made this one a classic. Another Beauty and the Beast formula movie with perhaps an ecological message, but well done.

As for the model, it's a simple, elegant design. This one has also been reissued over the years, including a 2002 edition exclusive to Toys R Us. An old buildup will almost always be missing the snake and the lizard's tongue. There's an even cooler model of the gillman showing him swimming from the Monsters of The Movies series that Aurora put out in 1975, but it's next to impossible to find.

This one is a good model to practice washes and dry-brushing to bring out the details of the gillman. I gave him a final overall "wet" look, like he'd just stepped out of the water.
