Knitting

was added to my list of crafts when I was in my early "teens."  Self-taught for the most part I enjoy the challenge.

I guess the most horrible experience with knitting was when I made my first set of matching sweater for my boyfriend and myself.  Mine fit perfectly, but his, well - I think I was just a bit off in my measurement for the sleeves...I had to un-knit and do the cuffs again.  We wore the matching sweaters until after we were married and he began helping me with the wash.  His shrunk when he tossed it into the washer...they were made of wool.  I loved the perfect blue color.....

Thank goodness that didn't turn me off of a great craft.

yn knit hat
My girl friend in Florida had need of pretty hats, so I knitted this one in 2005.  It was my first time making a hat like this.  The flower was added to give it a spark.  Coats and Clark worsted yarn.

ankle sock thumnail
Making an anklet sock was an inspiration from my friend S.R.  It was fun.  I was too excited to start...I need a set of needles a size smaller.  But they are nice foot warmers on cold nights.  Coats and Clark wprsted yarn.
Tn Michael's Sweater
My grand nephew M. W. was having his second Birthday in Feb, 2006.  I had to make him a little sweater.  In actuality, this was a size by guess - but his grandmother tells me it was a great fit!  This is made from Woolease, sportweight.  I varied the pattern.
Black Mushroom Hat
The black mushroom hat was hand spun wool I spun myself, two ply, black with colored cotton flakes sprinked throughout.  The pattern is from a book that teaches you to design your own pattern.  The name escapes me.  It also teaches you how to do color changes...so this is my own pattern.  Too bad I didn't record it as I like the fit.  It is based on a 2k, 2p ribbing and the scarf matches it.
