Generation No. 1
1. This family history begins with Johannes LEVANSELLER possible from the town of Bettendorf, located in the modern day Rheinland-Pflaz region of Germany. It is believe he was born around 1654 in this same area. He was married to Anna, her last name has not been discovered, who was born around 1656 in the same area as her husband. No date of marriage is currently available but together they had at least three children, Peter, Anna and Maria with a possbile fourth, Johannes. Anna's death date is unknown but her husband Johannes passed away on the 1st of September in 1728, possibly buried in Bettendorf.

It has surfaced, thanks to the email from Mr. Peter Jung in Bad Ems, Germany, that Johannes father was Hans Peter LEVANSELLER and his wife Anna. It appears that this was a family of Millers along the Rhine river with a mill located near Stromberg, Germany.

The spelling of the family name is the current one and possible came from the original spelling similar to LÖWENZELLER with several spellings including Lowen-Zeller, Lowen-Zollner, Liebenzoller, Levensaler to the present spelling.

2. Peter LEVANSELLER was born around 1705 possibly in Bettendorf, Germany. He married the former Anna Appolonia BAUER, daughter of Johann Jacob BAUER, on 22 November 1729 in Altendiez, Germany. The date and place of Anna's birth are currently unknown. Together they had at least six children. They left Amsterdam on the ship "Elizabeth" and arrived in Broad Bay, Maine in 1753. The death date for Anna is currently unknown, but she did pass away in Waldoboro, Maine. Peter passed away after 1797 in Waldoboro, Maine.

6. Johann Adam LEVANSELLER was born on 30 January 1731 in Altendiez, Germany. He would marry the former Maria Eleanora SCHUMAN around 1754 in Waldoboro, Maine. Maria was born on 13 July 1732. Together they had at least one child. Johann Adam was noted passing away on 2 September 1799 in Boston, Massachusetts. His wife Maria preceeded him on 19 December 1798 in Waldoboro, Maine.

Leonard would pass away on 12 February 1867. No information is currently available on Leonard's burial site.

23. John K. LEVANSELLER was born 21 May 1807 in Waldoboro, Lincoln Co., Maine. John was married around 1843 to the former Sarah W. GAY, daughter of David and Rachel GAY. Sarah was born on 18 April 1824 in Union, Knox Co., Maine. There has been some confusion with the spelling of the last name, as several different spellings have been noted to include Levenseller, Lavenseller, Levansailor, etc. For the sake of continuity, the spelling of Levanseller is being used, since this spelling was used the most in documents and records found. Together they had four children. John passed away on 8 July 1868 in Waldo, Waldo Co., Maine. Sarah would passed away1 on 3 June 1909 in Waldo, Waldo Co., Maine. Both are buried in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Swanville, Waldo County, Maine.

26. Gilbert C. LEVANSELLER was born on 23 August 1849 in Waldo, Waldo Co., Maine and grew up on a farm. He later would marry7 the former Sarah Ellen CHASE, daughter of Jeremiah CHASE and Mercy LITTLEFIELD of Swanville, Waldo Co., Maine, on 1 May 1892 in Belfast, Waldo Co., Maine. Sarah was born on 25 March 1853 in Swanville, Waldo Co., Maine. Together they would have two children. Gilbert would pass away8 on 28 August 1918 in Waldo, Waldo Co., Maine and according to his obituary14, in the Daily Kennebec Journal, he was not only a frequent visitor to Belfast, he was well and favorably known with many friends. Sarah later passed away on 11 September 1938 in Waldo, Waldo Co., Maine. Both are buried in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Swanville, Waldo Co., Maine.

30. Jennie Goldsmith LEVANSELLER was born15 6 January 1894 in Waldo, Waldo Co., Maine. She married16 Everard Alton BRYANT, son of Levi M. BRYANT and Alice M. CILLEY, on 6 October 1915 in Waldo, Maine. Everard was born 21 April 1893 in Waldo, Waldo Co., Maine. Together they had three children. According to U.S. Census records the couple moved to Lewiston, sometime before 1920, residing on Evans Street, Lewiston, Maine. Their last address noted was 43 Dennison Street in Auburn. Everard passed away17 on 30 January 1963 in Auburn, Maine. Jennie passed away18, at the ripe old age of 100, on 3 August 1994 in the Marshwood Health Care Facility in Lewiston, Maine. Both are buried in the Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Auburn, Androscoggin Co., Maine.
