Our family history begins in the province of New Brunswick, Canada with my great, great, great, grandfather, King David MacDonald. He was born around 1825, though no exact date or place of birth has yet to be uncovered. It appears that in most records he used his middle name more often that his first name. He was married to the former Elizabeth Nancy Farris, Daughter of George Farris and Jane Blizzard, on the 8th of August 1851 in a Baptist church in Johnston Parish, Queens County, New Brunswick, Canada1. The couple would have eight children together including six boys and two girls. |
| Elizabeth, or "Annie" as she was commonly called, was believed to have born around 1839 though no exact date or place of birth has yet to be found. No earlier information on where David and Elizabeth were actually born
or from where they originally hailed is currenlt available. It is possible that Elizabeth was from England and David from Scotland with both being raised in New Brunswick as listed in the Canadian census records. The first indication of the couple was listed in the 1861 & 1871 Canadian Census2 records. The couple was noted living in the Cambridge
parish area of Queens County, New Brunswick. These records listed the religious preference for both David
and Elizabeth as Baptist. David’s occupation was also listed as a laborer. |
| David passed away on 25 February 1881 at the age of 56 years old and is buried in the Lakeview & Cambridge Narrows Cemetery3 in Johnston Parish, Queens Co., New Brunswick, Canada. It is rumored that after David’s death the family immigrated to New England in the mid to late 1890’s eventually settling in the York County area of Maine.
Elizabeth passed away o/a 14 July 1908 at the age of 69 years old and is buried in the Forest City Cemetery4, South Portland, Maine. |
