Clapp Community News

                              Week of December 3, 2007

Coat Drive

As part of our community service program we will be collecting gently worn winter coats for infants, children and adults.  Each child brought home information about this project.  When donating be sure to attach the slip that lets us know which family made the donation.  Children will receive credit for one hour of community service for each coat donated.  This collection will go through the month of December.  Thank you to Anton’s Cleaners for providing free cleaning and to Jennifer Ross for tabulating the coats collected and dropping them off.

Pre-School Screening

A free pre-school screening for 3 and 4 year olds is conducted several times during the school year by the Pre-School Special Education Team.  The purpose of the screening is to identify children who may benefit from additional educational services before entering kindergarten and to also identify typically developing children who would be eligible to join the Integrated Preschool Program for the 2008-2009 school year.  Call Carol Brewster at the Special Education Office for an appointment at 781-937-8226 ext. 253.

Toys For Tots

A Toys For Tots box has been dropped off here at the Clapp School lobby.  Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy for holiday giving.  Toys for children infant – age 12 are most requested.  Thank you in advance for making Christmas a little happier for a deserving child.

PTO purchases playground equipment

Your PTO dollars are hard at work keeping our Clapp Students happy and healthy during recess times.  Balls, hoops, and jump ropes have all just arrived.  The students are very excited.  Now we are waiting for our new fence to be installed so they won’t roll down the hill.  Thanks to the PTO for making this purchase possible.
