Continuing eastward, through Elizabeth, pay attention to your instructions as you will have to make some fancy moves to get to your destination! CAEA-511 / EACA-512 - This eastbound way freight starts it's run in Catasaqua. It is a relatviely simple run with some switching on it's way to Easton. This train is a turn and will return to Catasaqua. A short but interesting run, this Lehigh and New England interchange train comes out of Catasaqua and heads into Easton to work the interchange track. Here you will exchange inbound cars with cars headed back to the LNE. The only problem you will encounter is the RPO that will most likely be there, as well as any other cars on the interchange track that might be in your way. Add to this, you have to keep in the clear as much as possible as there will be mainline traffic coming through! |
CRLE-520 / LECR-521 - This westbound way freight starts it's run in Croxton. It is a difficult run with a lot of switching on it's way to Lehighton. This train is a turn and will return to Croxton. The first of two CNJ wayfreights. This one leaves Croxton and heads west along the CNJ mainline into Pennsylvania. Your first stop is Easton, where you will check the interchange track for any cars headed west to Palmerton, Lehighton or west. You will then conitnue on to Palmerton. This one is tricky as you will be working the NJ Zinc plant. It's tricky because the plant's trailing point lead is on the eastbound main, which means you will be working both mainlines! Talk to the dispatcher. Once your fiinished in Palmerton, you'll head to Lehighton, drop and pickup eastbound cars and start your journey back towards Croxton as train LECR-521, but first you will stop again at Palmerton to finish working the Zinc plant, this time the other side of the plant on the other side of the tracks! If your not careful, you can tie the railroad up with the wrong moves! |
CREA-522 / EACR-523 - This westbound way freight starts it's run in Croxton. It is a difficult run with a lot of switching on it's way to Easton. This train is a turn and will return to Croxton. The second of two CNJ wayfreights. This one leaves Croxton and heads west along the CNJ mainline into Pennsylvania. Your first stop is Elizabeth, where you will work Elizabeth Foods and the frieght house. Once finished, you will continue west, but if your smart, you will leave any cars not for Easton in the eastbound siding in Elizabeth. Room is tight in Easton! You will then conitnue on to Easton. Here you will make all pickups and set outs, and in the process, build your train for the return trip to Croxton. Remember to keep one main track clear as traffic will be trying to get past you! The trick here is to get all of your pickups done first and hopefully catch LECR-521 on his way back to Croxton. If your pickups are ready, he can stop and take them back with him. This will leave you room to work. Once your finished in Easton, you will start your return trip back to Croxton as EACR-523, stopping at Elizabeth to pickup those cars you left in the siding, then working Elizabethport before tying up back in Croxton. |
BEBV-529 / BVBE-528 - This westbound through freight starts it's run in Bayview. It is a difficult run with a lot of switching on it's way to Bernice. This train is a turn and will return to Bayview. One of the newer trains on the railroad, it was created due to the increasing coal traffic on the CL&W! Take your lunch though as it's a long one! You start your day in Bayview with a consist of empty hoppers out of the port area headed back to the mines. You will leave Bayview and continue to Karlsbad, your first stop, where you will pickup more empty hoppers headed for Bernice. Then you will continue onto Clairmont, where you will pickup more empty hoppers. Your next stop is Bernice, the biggest mine complex on the CL&W. There, you will sort out all the loads in the mine area. Be sharp as you have to block your outbound train! Your first job is to gather any loads headed to Sayre and run them down the line to Sayre, and pickup any empties there for you. You will then return to Bernice, finish sorting your loads, set out all the empty hoppers, and reassemble your train for the trip back. But the day isn't over as you will be setting out loads for Clairmont and Karlsbad along the way. Have fun! |
ALSA-542 / SAAL-541 - This eastbound way freight starts it's run in Sayre. It is a difficult run with a lot of switching on it's way to Sayre. This train is a turn and will return to Sayre. This is a nice wayfreight job out of Sayre Yard. You will work all the businesses along the LV mainline between Sayre and Allentown, but be careful, there is traffic that will be coming by you and you need to stay in the clear! This is one of the easier wayfreights on the line so if you've never switched a wayfreight before, this is a good one to try. |
JCX-561 / JCX-562 - This eastbound way freight starts it's run in Croxton. It is a difficult run with a lot of switching on it's way to Jersey City. This train is a turn and will return to Croxton. This is a tough one! This is the Jersey City peddler. You will leave Croxton out of the Little Ferry Yard and head directly into Jersey City, but be careful, it's the end of rush hour and there is still a lot going on in the Jersey City Passenger Terminal. As you switch the various industries in and around Jersey City, you will constantly have to stay on your toes and keep your train in the clear so through traffic can make it's way around you. Stay in touch with the Jersey City operator. Once your finished, you will be headed back to Croxton so as you work, assemble your train in the reverse order to minimize run arounds. Good luck! |
IBT - This little wayfreight starts it's run in Ironbound. It is a relatviely simple run with lot's switching throughout the town of Ironbound. If you like small places and lot's of switching, then the Iron Bound Turn is the job for you! You will report directly to Iron Bound, a small town just outside of Bayview. The little 0-4-0 switcher is fired up and waiting for you to board. Gather up your paperwork and start your pickups, assmebling your run to Bayview. Once your train is assembled, you will contact the operator at Bayview who will get clearance for you. You will pull your train out of Ironbound and then push it into Bayview, an unusual move! You will then pull your inbound cars out of Bayview and push them into Ironbound. Once back in town, you will begin the process of delievering these cars to their receivers, but don't be fooled - this area is tricky! Plan your moves. |
