The Center has been fortunate to receive a grant in 2002 from the Chesapeake Bay Trust. Through this grant, the Center is able to conduct a number of activities that help increase the youngsters' awareness of the fragile nature of the environment associated with the Chesapeake Bay. The following are some of the projects supported by this grant. Water Quality Monitoring Beginning in June, 2002 the Center launched a program to monitor the water quality of College Creek, a tributary that feeds directly into the Severn River and ultimately into the Chesapeake Bay. Runoff from surrounding urban structures - roads, drain pipes, etc. - contribute to the amount and type of biological and non-biological contaminants that flow into College Creek. Field Trips As part of its 2002 summer program, the Center was able to conduct a number of field trips related to the environs associated with the health of the Chesapeake Bay.
