Ocean City Golf Trip

10/09/06 - 10/12/06

Clay & Pat Stahl

We Allowed Plenty Of Time, Checked In And Got Our Keys, But The Room Wouldn't Be Ready For A While.   For Us, That Meant After Golf

First Day's Golf -- Nice Carts With "Free" Computer Displays -- All Four Golf Courses Were Similar

We're Early, Free Range Balls, Nice Practice Green 1st Hole -- Big Greens, But We Still Miss Them Pat With Her Faithful Hybrid

Pat On The 5th, Clay On The 6th -- The Water Doesn't Come Into Play Bridge To Assateague Island From The 8th Tee

A Little Slow Ahead Of Us, It Wasn't Them Clubhouse And The Watery 9th Green Eagle's New Home -- Lost His Nest Nearby

We Had An "Oceanblock" Room, On The Side (Actually A Corner), But Surprisingly, We could See The Ocean One Way And The Bay The Other

Long Walk To The First Evening's Restaurant.   Whew, They Were Open!   Many were Closed -- Some For The Season, Others On Monday

Not Too Busy This Time Of Year Sand From Last Week's Nor'Easter.   Lucky Trip Timing! Gaudy 3-D Store Facade

Boardwalk Exhibit, The "disqualified" Caught Our Eye!

Some Of Assateague Island's Wild Horses.   They Are Owned And Maintained By The National Park Service, Providing No Food And Minimal Care

2nd Day, We Were Here In 1996, But The Course Has Been Renovated -- Not That We Would Remember It From That Long Ago.   Flowers Were Nice

Pat On The 3rd.   Clay On The 8th.   This Course Was OK, But The Other 3 Were Much Nicer Half Of The 5th Green Was Under Repair

The Par 5 12th Has Two Tough Carries We Didn't Have To Carry The Adjacent Marsh! Restaurant In A Strip, Surprisingly Good!

3rd Day -- Two Courses Here With Thoroughbred Racing Themes.   Both Just Completed, Private Name Is "War Admiral", Public is "Man O' War"

Pat On The 2nd -- Thought We Would Get Wet, But The Rain Held Off Par 5 4th Has A Big Green, But You Can't Be Long!

Links Style Layout With Knarly Hills, And They Do Come Into Play! Cart Path Crossroads.   It Was Overcast, But Warm

Old Starting Gate.   A Racetrack Part Is Now A Long Waste Bunker Par 5 9th With The Horseshoe Tee Marker -- Water In Front Of The Houses

We Declined The Ranger's Offer To Let Us Play Through -- We Had Reservations In The Stable Behind The 18th Green (Ruth's Chris Steakhouse)

A Typical Ruth's Chris!   Flawless In Every Aspect A Nice Table Out Of The Way Near A Stall

In Ruth's Chris, A Portion Of The Stable Is A Museum.   War Admiral Was Man O' War's Son And Seabiscuit Was Man O' War's Grandson!

The Owners:   Seabiscuit Was From California.   Man 'O War And War Admiral Were Bred In Kentucky, But Mostly Raced Out Of Riddle Farm

Last Day, Just On The Other Side Of Assawoman (just as it is spelled!) Bay From Ocean City Lots Of Water "Doesn't Come In To Play!"

Only Double Green In The United States On Consecutive Holes!   Pat Holds 2nd Flagstick, 3rd Is To Her Right.   She Hits To It From The 3rd Tee

4th Blue Tee, Whites Are Up By The Cart! Signature Par 3 5th Green With Ocean City In Back Little Place Under Construction!  Not Bad!

No Speed Limit Over The Marsh To The 9th.   There Is A Much Shorter Bridge Back On The Way Back After The 16th

Marsh At The 15th -- Not Too Long, You Just Can't Pop It Up! 18th Green With Still Another Spectacular Ocean City View!

Dinner (And The Completion Of A Long Awaited Pilgrimage) On The Way Home!

Favorite Beer Fish Swimming Above The Bar The Neon Dogfish Head Sign Over The Kitchen

An Often Quoted Phrase Back In The Brewing Area These Are Not Steps, They Are "HOPS!"
