We have another hero in the family, Col(Chaplain) Billy Lord was awarded the Silver Star in Vietnam for carry out wounded soldiers under fire.
Great website Clay. I have seen the letter before but not the picture or the entire story behind it. Thanks
This is so great! My son, Sean, found it and sent it on to the rest of us. Good job!
I'm sending your link to all my sons so they can see more of their heritage. You're writing makes it all so very real. My mother Louise is the daughter of William Thomas Lord, Jr. She's on the front row of the family picture with brothers Louis, Leo and W. B.
thanks for the pictures, Clay. some of those Rebels look like they've had plenty of cornpone and sidemeat
PS: "rcollom@bellsouth.net" My mother was Daughter of Claude Franklin Lord Sr.
My Great Great Grandfather was Stephen D. Lord who fought and died at the Battle of Mansfield, Louisiana. My Brother and I were told that he died on a hill just about 100 yards in front of the Musuem there in Mansfield. This was told to us by our Great Uncle Braxton from a very old man that Braxton knew as young man. It is said that he died as the results of being shot in the head from a "Yankee" musket.
Good Site...my Mother was Viola Lord, daughter of Claude Franklin Lord, who was a brother of Braxton, Jeb, Ruby, Mint and the others. Not sure which one he is in the family picture, but I bet one of them is him. We used to go to Family Reunions at Uncle Braxtons house near Mansfield.
Great story about Stephen D. Lord. Thanks Clay for the good work. It will be remembered.
