Cloudcity cattery

We are a little in-home cattery in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado. Our queen Blackfootriver Phoebe of Cloudcity is a five year old blue point. Seal point Sam Greenlane Scion of CloudCity sired Phoebe’s first litter but is now retired. A younger female, Falkenhoehe Nala of CloudCity, a seal point, joined us in 2009 from a cattery in Germany. More often than not, there is a litter of kittens at some stage of growing up. We are fortunate to have come upon another breeder in the Denver area who has an old-style seal point Siamese boy, Luv Sun Shogun's Dutch Apple, from good Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) lines, to whom we have been breeding Phoebe and more recently Nala. Two younger cats are waiting in the wings: Phoebe’s seal point daughter Asteria, and Nala’s seal point son Katsumoto, who, we hope, will have a litter together in late 2012 or early 2013. Our cats are registered as Thai in The International Cat Association (TICA) and as Siamese in the Cat Fancier's Federation (CFF).

Kittens are raised in the house with us (a middle-aged couple), the adult cats, and a couple of dogs. Once they are old enough to have the run of the house, they sit in our laps to help us read the newspaper and watch the news on television, they help with the computer, they burrow into our bed or sit on top and attack our feet, they find secret hiding places under the couch, cozy up to the dogs, and generally make themselves at home. They are caged only at night and when no one is around to make sure they stay out of trouble. Since one of us is home-officed, that’s not often.

Because it's important to keep in touch with other breeders and to get objective evaluations of the quality of our cats, the cats go to TICA shows from time to time. We go to all the shows in the Denver area, and make forays farther abroad to more distant shows when circumstances allow.

Our cattery gets its name from an old nickname for Leadville, Colorado, at about 10,000 feet of elevation, where we have a weekend home, and, yes, the cats go too! (It’s fun to watch the hummingbirds in the summer and chickadees and finches in the winter at the bird feeders….)

Visits are by appointment, to serious buyers only, so as to protect the cats' health.
