The WWW Virtual Library of Music-Great search engine for generating searches for any kind of musical genre, artist, etc, has different categories (such as academic, composers, performers, etc) that you checkbox and then match with different genres of music then hit "go get it" to acquire a large set of links

The Center for Black Music Research-At Columbia College in Chicago, this center documents, preserves, and disseminates information about black music in all parts of the world, used to publish a great quarterly journal with very informative articles but seems to have ceased this great service, still educates and entertains the greater Chicago area

Library of Congress-Library of Congress's site featuring information about their work as well as some great on-line exhibits and services for acquiring copies of their work on documenting American history, at one point John Lomax's original writings and photograph's from 1930's search for American folk music

Gaylord Music Library-This a necorology site, featuring Information on dates of artist's death obtained from an index of obituary citations published annually by the Music Library Association (MLA) in its quarterly journal, Notes

Encyclopedia Britanica-Great web site from the the encyclopedia, for music search go to the entertainment link on their homepage and then the music link that will appear after this last action, music is searchable through articles on the site itself and links set up under different genres and topics

Directory of Music User Guides for Libraries-Music librarians links and resources, the main feature of this site is descriptions of librarian "music guides", or help on finding different music sources compiled by librarians throughout different Universities, also has some on line links

Ethnomusicology, Folk Music, and World Music Links-Compiled by John Gibbs, librarian at the University of Washington's School of Music, this is a great link site set up by categories, including geographical, bibliographical, academic, etc, will take a lot of time to explore the links presented

University of Washington's links to Music Databases-This is a list site with links to different databases for different categories such as periodicals, lyrics and music, music history & musicology, ethnomusicology, etc

University of Washington's link to Internet Resources-General links created at the Universtity of Washington Library so that music resources online could be accessed rapidly, this is a good place to start for music research on the web

UCSB-Link page from the University of California, many different topics including, associations, computer music, copyright, directories of web resources as well as many others

Duke University Library-This site features a searchable database for song lyrics pulled from sheet music in the Universities sheet music collection, the bulk of the material ranges from the 1830's to the 1930's

The Music and Science Information Computer Archive-A searchable database site for Data Base Contents: Scientific research (references & abstracts) on music as related to behavior, the brain and allied fields

Lewis Music Library-This site is physically located at MIT(Massachusetts), links to other sites within the college as well as links to other web sites are included
