BIG BLUE WILDERNESS
View up Big Blue valley at Uncompahgre Peak, sixth highest in Colorado at
14,309 feet. This is taken from the trail which begins near the forest service
campground and follows the Big Blue Creek upriver a dozen miles to reach
this location. From here, a spur trail takes you up 3000 feet in about
3 miles to the top of Uncompahgre Peak.
View from Uncompahgre Peak looking to the north. The valley between
the two ridges is the trail from the Big Blue Trail to Uncompahgre Peak
trail.
Camping above Big Blue Creek near intersection of Big Blue Trail and
the spur trail up to Uncompahgre Peak Trail.
