- In 1989, CSX Transportation sold this 46 mile right-of-way
to the State of Florida, one of the first purchases of the Florida Rails-to-Trails
program, and it is now managed as a linear state park. The twelve feet
wide surface is asphalt for the entire 46 mile length and no fee is charged
to users.

- Trailheads are well furnished with parking, water,
and restrooms. There are many road crossings and dwellings are sometimes
visible. Above is Hernando Lake near the town of Hernando's trailhead.

- Occasional remnants of the old rail line are spotted
as this whistle marker. Trail maps are available at trailheads.
