Math B Overview
Unit 1
Students will:
- Organize and display data, with or without technology, using a variety of displays, including box and whisker pots, back-to-back step and leaf plots, and scatter plots.
- Use box an whisker plots to compare two sets of data
- Analyze and interpret data in a variety of displays such as box and whisker plots, back-to-back stem and leaf plots, and scatter plots
- Use the measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) to compare two sets of data
- Evaluate the validity of claims based on analysis of data
- Identify data that represent sampling errors and explain why a sample might be biased.
Unit 2A
Students will:
- Recognize and appropriately use exponential, scientific, and calculator notation
- Describe the magnitude of numbers
Unit 2B
Students will:
- Apply formulas and evaluate algebraic expressions when given variable values
- Simplify expressions, using the order of operations on expressions involving the four operations, exponents, and parentheses
- Simplify expressions by applying the commutative, associative, and distributive properties and justify
- Use variables and appropriate operations to write expressions
