State Chair's Message
Hello Colorado ASBDA Members! My name is Keith Farmer and I am the new state chair for Colorado ASBDA. For those who don’t know me, I am a Colorado native who has taught high school band for the past ten years. I have taught at Elizabeth, Rock Canyon, and am currently entering my fifth year at Grandview High School in the Cherry Creek District. It is an honor to serve in the leadership role for this organization. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I feel a great energy and enthusiasm for the projects we are currently undertaking in Colorado as well as the publications, research committees, and updates occurring at the national level. I hope this newsletter finds you well rested and thinking about the beginning of another school year. Please consider how you can contribute to Colorado ASBDA with your time and energy for the coming year.

Composition Contest

| Who May Enter: |
Any student currently enrolled in Colorado public or private school Grades 5-12. The student must be enrolled in the school’s band program. |
| Requirements: |
A work for concert band with no restrictions as to style or form. Compositions must be for GRADE I-IV CONCERT BAND and must not exceed 7 minutes in length. |
| Entry Materials: | Application form, full score and CD recording of specified instrumentation |
| Award: | $150 cash award |
| Entry Deadline: | Postmarked by March 1, 2010 |

| Eligibility: |
The student teaching assignment must take place in Colorado. Upon completion of their student teaching assignment, the recipient must actively pursue a teaching position in Colorado. The main focus of the student teaching assignment must be band. |

Nomination by the student teacher's college or university, or nomination by the student teacher's cooperating teacher that is a member of ASBDA. |
