Billy Cole 1936-2009 Bill Cole passed away at his home in McMinnville, OR, June 21, 2009, on Father’s Day, after a short battle with cancer, with his family at his side. He was born on Sept 23, 1936 in Mound Valley Kansas, the oldest son of Rolland and Irene Cole. In 1942 Bill moved to the Baker City, Oregon area with his family. He attended 12 years in the Baker schools, and in 1956 graduated from OTI in Klamath Falls, Oregon. In 1958, Bill met and married the love of his life, Janice Kenison and had two children, Lacey and Bill. Bill and Janice made their homes in Monmouth, Baker, City, and McMinnville. Bill started as a machinist after graduation from OTI and eventually became a part owner in Oreland Industries with the Landgrafs in McMinnville. In retirement, he designed and built the BC Custom Competition Shotgun. Bill built over 100 of these custom shotguns known for their high performance, outstanding quality, and their precision metal work. Bill was an avid hunter and trapshooter. He competed and hunted through out the US. He traveled to South Africa and Argentina, on the hunt for game and birds. He loved the companionship and challenge of golfing and shooting, as well as his alone time with a good book. Those left to honor his memory and remember him with love are; his wife, Janice, daughter Lacey (Gary) Fiegi, son Bill (Cathy) Cole, four grandsons, Eric Fiegi, Ryan (Jackie) Fiegi, Andrew and Adam Cole. He is also survived by, his sister, Joyce Kerns, brothers, Don and Lloyd Cole, several nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends. All of which will miss him terribly. His parents preceded him in death. A family cremation memorial will be held at a later date. A service is scheduled to take place at Macy & Son in McMinnville, on Friday, June 26th at 2:00 PM. Bill Cole started designing his Custom Shotguns in 1991. He lives in McMinnville Oregon and has sold his shotguns all over the US. Bill travels to many trapshooting events each year to meet his customers, fit them for their purchases, and deliver their Shotguns. He attends the Grand American each year, and has his display in the building behind the practice traps with Moe Bragg of Shooters Emporium (Soft Touch).
