| DESCRIPTION |
Applied guitar or electric bass lessons provide the student with basic through advanced guitar or electric bass skills and encourages learning through a variety of approaches including reading music, particular guitar or electric bass techniques, aural training, and improvisation as appropriate to each individual. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ATTENDANCE POLICY |
Attendance
is mandatory. Lessons missed by unexcused absences will not be
made up. Any conflicts must be resolved with the instructor 48
hours prior to the scheduled lesson. The final grade will be
reduced by one full letter for each unexcused absence. |

| ASSESSABLE LEARNING GOALS |
These
will include performance accuracy, expressiveness, memorization, and
attendance. These goals will be assessed by rubric. |

| ASSIGNMENTS POLICY |
All
students are required to perform juried exams at the semester's end in
addition to mastering weekly exercises. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
| OBJECTIVES |
The
student will learn to read music at a basic level in both treble and
bass clefs. The student will also develop basic psychomotor
skills, fundamental technique, and good posture with respect to the
guitar or electric bass. Affective objectives are for the student
to develop an
appreciation for musical literacy and discipline, along with an
understanding that music can be a path to life-long learning,
self-expression, confidence, and collaborative non-verbal communication
as well as a career goal. |
