FMW - Phoenix

One of the smaller Japanese promotions was FMW. At one time, they were seen by many as one of the most promising new promotions to come along. However, after losing many of their big stars to other promotions, FMW began suffer and eventually went out of business. Although, they weren't the size of New Japan or All Japan, they managed to put out a very cool figure of one of their top stars - Hayabusa. Hayabusa was a high-flying/martial arts/hardcore style wrestler who made ground-breaking moves look easy. This was the only figure, of this type, made for FMW. However, there were three or four other repainted versions of this figure. The picture on the right, shows Hayabusa in his most common paint version (blue). I believe the other colors are much harder to find. This figure is a bit taller than the NJPW figures, standing at around 6 inches. The detail is very good, even down to the scars on his body. About a year ago, Hayabusa sufferred a career ending injury while wrestling. Interestingly, the value of his action figures then sky-rocketed, and are still worth quite a bit.

Favorite figure: Hmmm... Let's see.......I think I'll go with Hayabusa

Hayabusa
FMW - Inspire

These figures by Inspire are just great. They are usually between 10 and 12 inches tall and are VERY detailed, with real fabric and even stringy hair. Inspire has made these larger figures for many of the Japanese wrestling promotions including FMW, NJPW and North Eastern Pro Wrestling (check out my Collections section for more from this line). Again, I believe Hayabusa is the only FMW wrestler made by Inspire, and again, more than one variation was made of him. I know of atleast two. Many of them are autographed by Hayabusa himself. These Inspire figures have been a big hit with collectors, as well they should be, because of the high quality and rarity.

Favorite figure: I'll go with Hayabusa once again.

FMW - Unknown Manufacturer

I don't know which company made these figures (because I can't read Japanese) but I can tell you that they're pretty cool. I own three of them. They're not as detailed as the New Japan figures. In fact they're a lot like the All Japan gum ball figures, only much bigger (between 5 and 6 inches). They are obviously official because of the FMW logo on the packaging. They come in clear plastic bags. There are atleast 3 series of these figures. The first one features FMW wrestler Kohdoh Fuyuki, the second series includes Tetsuhiro Kuroda, and the third one features Kintara Kanemura. If anyone can give me some information on this figure line, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Favorite figure: I'd say the Kanemura figure is my favorite, because it's much more colorful than the other two.
