Symptoms: The Mac does not have a legitimate 68.x or 69.x IP address.
Goal: Perform a release/renew of the IP address to obtain a legitimate IP address.
- Click on the Apple Menu and select System Preferences.
- Click on either Network icon to access the Network System Preferences.
- Click on Built-in Ethernet and select Network Port Configurations.
- Remove the check mark from Built-in Ethernet then click Apply Now. This step releases the IP address.
- Put the check mark back in box for Built-in Ethernet then click Apply Now again. This step renews the IP address.
- The release/renew is now complete. Click on the System Preferences at the top of the screen and choose Quit System Preferences.
